CLUB NEWS Bendigo Clay Target Club Annual Queen’s Birthday Shoot at Bendigo On arrival at the Bendigo Clay Target Club early on the morning of the Queens Birthday holiday one must have wondered why they were there – the constant rain was enough to dampen anyone’s spirit. It did not let up during practice but unbelievably it stopped as the first event was to get under way and from then on the sun shone and the shooters began to roll up – 89 in all. A very pleasing aspect was to see 10 ladies, 10 juniors and 17 veterans among the 89 competitors. I guess with the number of veterans it rings true that we are an ageing nation (sport?). The grounds were looking a picture thanks to the recent rains and to the hard work over at least 4 days prior by a very small number of members. I guess so many others rely on that indefatigable member – someone else to do their share. Event 1 was the 50 Target Double Barrel kindly spon- sored by GFD Firearms and OSA. Seven shooters managed to score the 50/50 and qualify for the chance to win a .22 rifle. Daryl Hunt collected the O/A sash and a rifle with a score of 106/106.
