ACES Swim Club 2021 CO ACES HIGH POINT INVITE November 5-7, 2021 SANCTION: Held under USA Swimming sanction # 2021-142. In granting this sanction, it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. No swimmer who is not a member of USA Swimming shall be allowed to complete. A meet recon prior to the meet will help identify any athlete that is not in compliance. While it is absolutely the responsibility of the athlete member to complete the requirements of membership (including APT for 18 & over athletes), as a safeguard, it is the responsibility of the LSC to ensure that all swimmers competing in a sanctioned event be members of USA Swimming in good standing. LOCATION: Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center (VMAC) 5310 E 136th Ave Thornton, CO 80602 POOL: The VMAC pool is ten lanes, 25 yards with non-turbulent markers. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4). The meet may be run utilizing up to 10 lanes depending upon the size of the meet. Another 6 Lanes in the shallow end will be used for Warm- up/Warm-down. Depth at the start end is 8 feet. Altitude is 5300 feet. TIMING: Colorado Timing System with touch pads, back-up buttons and electronic scoreboard. Hy-Tek Meet Manager software. SEEDING: The meet will be seeded fastest to slowest. MEET START: Meet start times will be adjusted based on the total number of entrants per session. ACES will post the start times on our website at http://www.acesswimclub.com/ by noon Tuesday, Nov 2, 2021. COACHES/OFFICIALS and REQUEST for ADDITIONAL TIMERS: All coaches and uniformed Officials must display or be able to show proof of USA Swimming credentials. Coaches and Officials will be required to sign in before being allowed on deck in an Official or Coach capacity. Current certification is mandatory. Coaches and Officials not in compliance will not be allowed on deck. Deck pass is an acceptable proof of membership. The only volunteers allowed on deck will be USA Swimming officials with current 2021 credentials who are working the meet, those 2021 CO ACES High Point Invite 1
specifically assigned to the Admin area, and one timer per lane with a backup timer. Spectators are permitted in the venue, with the restriction to stay in the upper viewing area. No spectators allowed on deck. Locker rooms will be available only for swimmers. Coaches, Officials, and volunteer staff have separate facilities for their use. PARTICIPANT ASUMPTION OF RISK: We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID-19. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. Physical presence at the meet may increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. Meet participants and spectators voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and voluntarily accept sole responsibility for any personal injury, illness, permanent disability or death that may result USA Swimming, Inc., cannot prevent you (or your child(ren)) from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in USA Swimming sanctioned events. It is not possible to prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to participate in a USA Swimming sanctioned event, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19. BY ATTENDING OR PARTICIPATING IN THIS COMPETITION, YOU VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH EXPOSURE TO COVID-19 AND FOREVER RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS USA SWIMMING AND [THE LSC] AND EACH OF THEIR OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY LIABILITY OR CLAIMS INCLUDING FOR PERSONAL INJURIES, DEATH, DISEASE OR PROPERTY LOSSES, OR ANY OTHER LOSS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE AND GIVE UP ANY CLAIMS YOU MAY HAVE TO SEEK DAMAGES, WHETHER KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, FORESEEN OR UNFORESEEN, IN CONNECTION WITH EXPOSURE, INFECTION, AND/OR SPREAD OF COVID-19 RELATED TO PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION. SAFETY ISSUES: • All coaches, officials, parents, and swimmers should act in a safe manner. • All participants, visitor coaches and officials should be reminded that swimming venues have areas where additional care is needed. This includes but is not limited to slippery decks and hallways. Proper footwear and caution is recommended. • No running or horseplay is allowed; it is the responsibility of the swimmer, coach, officials, and parents to monitor these activities. • The VMAC facility may have space limitations within the pool area. • Remember safety first! Please help accommodate your neighbors. RULES: • Current USA/Colorado Swimming rules, including the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (“MAAPP”) shall govern the conduct of the meet. • Age of swimmer is determined as of November 5, 2021. 2021 CO ACES High Point Invite 2
• Swimmers are limited to four (4) individual events per day, but no more than eight (8) events total for the meet. • Teams may enter no more than three (3) relays/relay event. • At a Sanctioned competitive event, USA Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm- down. The Meet Director or Meet Referee may assist the swimmer in making arrangements for such supervision, but it is the swimmer’s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet • Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement and bring proof of certification to the meet. • The meet will be pre-seeded except for the 500/1000 Free and 400 IM, which will be deck seeded. The 500 Freestyle and 400 IM will alternate Females and Males. The 500/1000 Free and 400 IM require the following: o Swimmers must provide their own timers and counters where appropriate. o Positive check-in closes approximately 1 hour before the event. Seeding procedures will comply with the current USA Swimming Rulebook. • Depending upon the time line, events 200 yards or longer may be deck seeded and require a positive check-in. The 1000 free may be limited to top 30 entries based upon the timeline. Information regarding this will be forwarded to the coaches via e-mail the week prior to the meet and posted on our website at www.acesswimclub.com. • FAILURE TO SWIM AFTER A POSITIVE CHECK-IN: Teams whose swimmers check-in for events requiring a positive check-in may be fined $25.00 at the discretion of the Meet Referee for each swimmer who fails to swim in those events. The swimmer may be barred from further competition. • There will be no refunds if a session is cut short. No exhibition swimming allowed. • The Meet Referee will be the final authority for conduct of the meet. WARM UP PROCEDURES: • Warm-up will be conducted in accordance with Colorado Swimming Inc. procedures. Backstroke starts are NOT allowed during general warm-up. No equipment may be used during the warm-up periods including but not limited to: fins, paddles, kick boards, pull buoys, cords for assisted or resisted swimming. Coaches will be responsible for the conduct and safety of their swimmers. • The warm up schedule will be determined by the Meet Director. It will be posted at the pool and on the ACES website www.acesswimclub.com. ELIGIBILITY: Open to invited teams whose athletes are current with 2021/2022 USA Swimming membership. Any swimmer that appears on the CSI exception report without registration must come to the meet prepared to show proof of current membership, either with a coaches' roster of currently registered athletes from the team's Club Portal or via a mobile device and the athlete's Deck Pass account. 2021 CO ACES High Point Invite 3
Per USA Swimming rule 302.4, Colorado Swimming, Inc. will impose a fine of $100 per swimmer who shows up on the post meet registration check which will be charged to the team account. Teams will receive one Meet Recon email as a reminder to register the swimmers. No deck registrations are allowed. ENTRY FEES: • Individual event fee is $7.00 per event. Relays are $7.00/relay. There is a $9.00 surcharge per swimmer. All fees must accompany entries. Make check payable to the Aces Swim Club ($1.05 of each entry fee goes to the CSI Splash Fund). • Deck/late entries are $10.00 per event and will be seeded in open lanes. All deck entries must present proof of current membership. ENTRIES: • Each session will be seeded in the order of entry receipt with a tentative timeline for 12 & Under swimmers to complete their events within a planned 4 hours. The ACES Swim Club will make every attempt to provide as many swimmers as possible with an opportunity to participate. Late entries may be accepted only at the Meet Director’s discretion, but the meet will not be re- seeded. Please report No Shows to the computer table. • Entry times must be in Short Course Yards! • NO-TIME (NT) ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! No Time entries will be rejected. It is recommended that the coach obtain entry times during practice that are well within the ability of the swimmer. • Entries will be accepted via e-mail (preferred) or CD’s using Hy-Tek Ltd. software. • Non-Hy-Tek entries will be accepted in Word or PDF format. When submitting entries in this format, please include name, age (as of the first day of the meet), USA Swimming ID, and team code. Teams sending 5 or more swimmers will be assessed a $25.00 surcharge if entries are not submitted using Hy-Tek software. • Please include the coaches’ name, address, e-mail and phone number with all entries. If you wish to confirm receipt of entries, please contact Entry Chair via e-mail only. ENTRY OPENING/DEADLINE Entries will be accepted beginning Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM MDT. Entries received prior to the opening will not be accepted. The entry deadline is Friday, October 21, 2021. Email entries will be accepted in the order they are received; any entries submitted should be considered official. Full payment for email entry must be postmarked within 48 hours of confirmation and acceptance of entries. Entry updates are permitted; however, DELETIONS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. In cases where payment or arrangements for payment are not received within the appropriate time, entries for team/individual may be deleted. AWARDS AND SCORING: • Individual’s 8 events will be scored. Friday evening events will count in scoring for ages 11 and older. Scoring in the 400 IM and 500 Free will be separated into 11-12, 13-14 and 15 Over Age Groups. • Individual Events: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. • Ties will be broken • Custom Trophies presented to the Top Sixteen High Point winners in the 8 & Under, 9-10, and 11-12 year old boys and girls divisions. Custom Trophies presented to the Top Eight High Point winners in the 13-14 boys and girls divisions. Custom Trophies presented to the Top Six High Point winners, senior boys and girls divisions. No team awards. HOSPITALITY/CONCESSIONS: Hospitality will be provided for coaches and officials. Concessions will be available on Saturday and Sunday. RESTRICTIONS: • USA SWIMMING RULES 103.11 AND 103.12 REGARDING TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL USE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. • The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms. • No photography behind the starting platforms during any starts. • Deck changing is prohibited. • All swimmers entered in the competition must comply with the current USA Swimming Rulebook Section 102.8 Swimwear except as provided in Rule 205.10.1. • Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials, and/or spectators are present. • Parking restrictions may be in effect during the meet. • Professional/team photographers must report to the Meet Referee, show a picture ID, read the restrictions and sign in to obtain media credentials prior to taking any pictures. Media credentials must be visible while taking pictures at the venue.
