A Shamanic Retreat With Nepali Shaman Bhola Banstola “Mahakala: Great Spirit of Transcendent Time” February 18 to 23, 2020 Tulum, Mexico Sponsored by Robinette Kennedy, Ph.D. If you have a strong foundation in shamanism, you’re invited to join Bhola Banstola and me for a five-day retreat in Tulum, Mexico. Here, in a beautiful Caribbean beachside retreat and spa, you’ll participate in some of the oldest Nepali shamanic healing traditions. Bhola’s travels rarely bring him to North or Central America, so this retreat is a rare opportunity to experience the teachings of one of the world’s most respected Himalayan spiritual teachers and author of The Path of the Nepalese Shaman (Inner Traditions, 2019.) Learn more about Bhola here. Our retreat begins Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m. and ends after breakfast on Sunday, February 23, 2020. It includes a four-and-a-half day shamanic retreat with Bhola Banstola as described here. You may choose to arrive early to relax on the beach or explore nearby ancient Maya sacred sites, and/or take some extra time after the retreat ends, to integrate your retreat experiences while you explore Tulum. Contact the hotel for information about extending your stay and receiving a 10% discount. The setting for our retreat is Maya Tulum, a private Photo courtesy Evelyn Rysdyk beachfront, all-inclusive retreat and yoga spa, located about 90 minutes south of the Cancun airport. The Shamanic Retreat fee only is $695 USD per person for the four-and-a-half day shamanic retreat with Bhola Banstola. Payment in full is required to hold your place in the retreat. Find details about registration and deposits here. The Curriculum fee does not include Maya Tulum lodging, meals, alcohol, travel or any other related expenses. In order to attend the retreat, you must make your own reservations directly with Maya Tulum Retreat (not through any other company.) Find reservations details here. For information about traveling to Maya Tulum, click here]. Optional excursions are available through the retreat and spa; contact them for details. After you have secured your place in the retreat and arranged your lodging at Maya Tulum and purchased your airplane ticket (in that order), we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance as soon as possible. We regret that we cannot suggest which travel insurance company is best. This retreat is sponsored by Robinette Kennedy, PhD, a long-time student/colleague of Bhola. Our group of 20-25 participants will be creating a temporary spiritual community of diverse, like-hearted people who have previous experiences with shamanism. Preview of Bhola’s Workshop Curriculum Mahakala: Great Spirit of Transcendent Time There are two kinds of time: Relative and Absolute. Relative time is continuous and affected by the movements of the planets. Absolute time is transcendent: “It is eternal, measureless, ever-present Time.” (Danielou, Alain. Hindu Polytheism. Bollingen/Pantheon Books, 1964) Absolute time is presided over by a prehistoric Himalayan masculine deity named Mahakala (ma-hah- KAH-lah). From the perspectives of the oldest Nepali shamanic healing traditions, Mahakala has several aspects: • As a master of transcendent (absolute) time, Mahakala clears traumatic experiences from the past. • As a ruler of the air, Mahakala wears a necklace of bones and yields his razor-sharp sword as he shreds negative energies. • As a psychopomp, Mahakala protects and provides safe passage for human souls who are traveling after death through the antarabhava (a Sanskrit word for the intermediate, transitional, or liminal state between death and rebirth.) Bhola will open this retreat by invoking guidance from your Guardian Deities and Spirits. This will be followed by a thanksgiving, empowerment ritual to call in the spirits of the Earth, Air, Ether, Water, Fire, and the Cosmos. Then, through guided shamanic journeys, rituals, myths, stories, ceremonies and special iconography related to the spirit of Mahakala’s roles in shamanism, Bhola will transubstantiate a sacred space where your shamanic experiences will move you deeper into the Light of your Soul. After you reach this profound state of spiritual support, Bhola will lead you in creating a personal talisman charged with self-protection and empowerment. You will also have the opportunity to learn more aspects of your soul through the Himalayan shamanic journey of saato bolaunu (soul retrieval) to bring home lost soul essences. Finally, to express the power of your own heart’s beauty, you will be guided through the Ritual Dance of the Circle/Cycle of Re-integration. Bhola closes the retreat with an initiation ceremony of empowerment and gratitude to Mahakala’s feminine aspect, Mahakali, who represents Shakti, the power of pure creation in the universe. “When the energies of the past, the realms of the Upper World/Air and the wrathful powers of the Great Below are united in peace, you are strong and protected.” — Bhola Banstola Will you join us? About Bhola Banstola Bhola Banstola was born in the foothills of Mt. Everest into a Nepalese family of 27 [documented] consecutive generations of shamans. Growing up in the district of Bhojpur, Bhola was chosen by the spirits of his ancestors to carry forward their message and healing traditions. Bhola, whose 102-year-old father is also a practicing shaman, received his shamanic training from his paternal grandfather, who was a skillful and well-known local shaman. In adulthood, Bhola traveled and studied shamanism with teachers in Nepal, Northeast India, Bhutan and parts of Sikkim and Darjeeling. His formal education includes a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Delhi University and a naturopathy degree from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines in Calcutta. Currently, Bhola is conducting extensive fieldwork on various shamanic practices among diverse ethnic groups in Nepal, India and abroad. He is the author of The Path of the Nepalese Shaman (Inner Traditions, 2019) © Mariarosa Genitrini “Bhola is an extraordinary shaman who carries down a beautiful tradition … a true example of a shaman who can walk into a room and uplift everyone and transform by his presence of light and love. His teaching style is filled with love, clarity, truth, wisdom and humor. Everyone I know who has studied with Bhola has loved his workshops. And it is a true gift to receive a private healing from Bhola. Do not miss any opportunity you have to work with Bhola!” — Sandra Ingerman: shaman and author of eight books, including Soul Retrieval and Medicine for the Earth. About Robinette Kennedy Robinette Kennedy, Ph.D. Robinette presents unique experiential workshops based upon her ongoing research into Indo-European shamanistic practices. She is a clinical anthropologist and shamanistic practitioner with a doctorate in humanistic psychology. In the 1990’s, Robinette began researching figurines of humans in unusual, yoga-like poses depicted in the sacred art of prehistoric, Crete where she once lived. Since then, she has continued to expand upon her ongoing original research into shamanistic practices in the first European culture. www.robinettekennedy.com “I had never heard of Bhola Banstola until 2007 when he and I were each presenting at a shamanic event in a vast New York forest. A few minutes into Bhola’s opening ritual for 150 people, I was not expecting the powerful energy he suddenly transmitted through the room and that stirred my soul with a life-changing gift. Looking back, that moment is when I became a follower of the light that Bhola sheds on my path. Over the years of getting to know him, I’ve discovered that alongside Bhola’s shamanic powers stands an ordinary man of extraordinary humility, wit, creativity and generosity. I have been blessed to experience his many gifts in the USA, Canada, Nepal and Mexico, and I am Bhola Banstola and Robinette Kennedy honored to be hosting a retreat with Bhola for the third time. I hope you will join us.” Contact Robinette at info@robinettekennedy.com or 001-706-746-5485. What Participants have been saying about Bhola’s 2019 Mexico Retreat 2019 Mexico Retreat Participants 8
“I can't recommend Bhola’s and Robinette's workshops highly enough. Bhola offers deep medicine from his Nepalese shamanic lineage, and he and Robinette create a safe container where you can learn and integrate Bhola’s powerful medicine with like-minded people. Bhola shares his teachings with passion, dedication and heartfelt devotion. He is wise yet approachable, powerful yet humble, and utterly delightful to study with. Robinette provides equally heart-felt support and her own deep wisdom during these retreat journeys. I am grateful for both of them and highly recommend their shamanic retreats.“ — Ellen Mathys Kirkaldy “Bhola is the most powerful and yet humble teacher that I have met to date. Through my retreat experiences with him since 2014, Bhola has truly changed my life, and I hold heartfelt gratitude towards him. During the 2019 Mexico retreat, Bhola brought forth profound spiritual and shamanic teachings on Kali Ma and Naga Kanya in such a way that allowed me to penetrate deep within my primordial center and access life-changing empowerment and healing that I have integrated into my daily practices. I am honored to Ellen Mathys with Bhola Banstola have been able to take part in this gathering and look forward to continued journeys into of Bhola’s vast knowledge.” — Scot Hollonbeck Register Now A Shamanic Retreat with Nepali Shaman Bhola Banstola sponsored by Robinette Kennedy, Ph.D. February 18-23, 2020 Tulum, Mexico click here to secure your spot before it's too late Share the Facebook Event 9
