Pearisburg Parks and Recreation Revitalization Project As part of the Pearisburg Parks and Recreation Revitalization Project, a new underground drainage system and new infield has been installed on the large baseball/softball field located at the Community Center. The drainage system assists with diverting water away from the field during rain events. This will reduce the amount of time lost for games and practices due to water collecting on the field. A new scoreboard, backstop, and fencing has also been installed. These upgrades will increase the availability of playing time, improve the player and spectator experience, and make the site safer for all. We look forward to seeing everyone at the field enjoying baseball, softball, and the beautiful weather this summer!
Infrastructure Projects The Town is currently working with engineers at Thompson & Litton to complete a Wastewater & Sewage Collection Survey, Preliminary Engineering Report on the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Asset Management Plan on the Sewerage System. Hello everyone, This has been a busy winter and early spring. We have been working through the winter to make improvements to the Town’s outdoor recreation facilities. We have installed new scoreboards on both baseball fields. An underdrain system has been installed in the large field adjacent to the Community Center to help prevent water from standing on the field and decrease the amount of time needed to prepare the field for play after rain events. A new backstop and fence are being installed on the field adjacent to the Community Center. The outdoor basketball court affectionately referred to as “the slab” is being reconstructed into a regulation size court. It will be completed with an epoxy finish to protect the concrete. It will also include painted three-point and free throw lines. Upgrades to the basketball court were made possible through a grant received from Mountain Lake Lodge and Mountain Lake Conservancy along with partnerships with Stateson Homes, Beltway Paving, Chandler Concrete, and Sherwin Williams. I look forward to seeing residents of all ages using these facilities to enjoy outdoor fun. I hope everyone had the opportunity to watch “The Real Dirty Dancing” that aired on FOX recently. The season finale was filmed at the Town’s Community Center. The shooting was a wonderful event that raised the profile and footprint for the Town of Pearisburg. I am grateful to have worked with the production team and cast to film the show in our hometown. I am always impressed with the creativity and ingenuity of our local entrepreneurs. We have many exciting new businesses that have opened recently or will be opening soon. They include the following: Folklore Books & More; Mountain Blossom Flowers LLC; Silver & Salt; K9 Clips; Golden GiGi Ceramics; JJ & Co. Apparel; Angel Grace Chiropractic; Dough-Dees; Ape Mans Collectables & IT Repair; Giles Pharmacy; Pro Home Construction LLC; Sugar and Flour; Stones Lawn & Tree Care; Simply Charming Boutique; Tawney’s Appliance Service; and Upper Cuts Barber (New Location). Please join me in supporting our new and existing businesses through shopping and buying local. As always, please let me know if I can be of service. Robert L. Dickerson Mayor
