GORDON RAMSAY TO OPEN FIRST SOUTH FLORIDA RESTAURANT IN MIAMI BEACH Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef, known for his reality show “Hell’s Kitchen,” signed a lease for a restaurant in the South-of-Fifth neighborhood. He will be opening a Lucky Cat restaurant at the Yukon building, at 119 Washington Avenue. Ramsay's eponymous London restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, was awarded three Michelin stars in the late 1990s. Other Ramsay restaurants to earn Michelin stars include Pétrus in London (one star), Le Pressoir d'Argentin Bordeaux (two stars), Gordon Ramsay au Trianon in Versailles (one star). Now, Miamians will be able to get up close and gustational with Ramsay's food with the opening of his first Miami endeavor, Lucky Cat, which will open in 2022 in Miami Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood. The restaurant is an outpost of the original Lucky Cat, which opened in 2019 in London's Mayfair district. Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay will feature signature dishes inspired by various regions with influences from across Asia, respecting the passion and culinary traditions from sushi and sashimi, buns and dumplings, tempura specialties, to skewers and a variety of exciting fish and meat entrees, beautifully crafted robata grilled dishes, and a variety of small plates and creative bar snacks. There will be an open kitchen, raw bar, private dining rooms and chef’s table all inside the 9,000 square-foot restaurant. In keeping with the spirit of South Beach, Lucky Cat, will feature a vibrant late- night lounge, inspired by the 1930’s drinking dens of the Far East. The 10-year deal in Miami Beach is for ground-floor space at the Yukon, which is within walking distance of other celebrity hangouts, including Joe’s Stone Crab, Prime 112 and Major Food Group’s Carbone.
HERZ DUPOND GROUP ANNOUNCES RED, THE STEAKHOUSE OPENING IN MAREA CONDO IN MIAMI BEACH, SOUTH OF FIFTH Wolfgang Herz of Fortune International Realty/HerzDupond Group is pleased to announce the Marea successful negotiation for the lease of 6,458 sqft restaurant space at the ground floor. Red South Beach has found a new home in the same South of Fifth neighborhood, in the former Mira Five Stars restaurant space at the Marea condo on South Pointe Drive.The spot hit all the notes he was looking for: a large, modern kitchen, a great location, and an extended outdoor patio with covered areas. Vauthy tells New Times that having a patio is essential for the foreseeable future. “When we had no outside dining, we were essentially doing no business. It became obvious to me that we needed outdoor space.”Vauthy says he has been working on the lease for a few months. It took five weeks to get the kitchen to his specifications. The new Red South Beach should be open in two weeks, if not sooner. The restaurant is finished and awaiting approval from the City of Miami Beach.Initially, the restaurant will offer patio dining only (in addition to takeout). The outdoor patio seats up to 70 guests, accounting for social distancing. Most of the space is covered and protected from the elements. “The view is going to be incredible,” Vauthy says. “It’s a beautiful outdoor space. When people come to Miami, they want to be outside.” Once open, the indoor dining area will seat about 140, plus a glass-enclosed VIP room, two other private rooms, and a bar area with its own seating. Red’s wine cellar will also be moved to the new space.The menu will remain the same: prime steaks, fresh seafood, and decadent sides. Vauthy plans to add a four-course Sunday brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (including the option to add unlimited Champagne, bloody marys, or other noontime libations.Also new: the Red butcher shop, which will offer ready-to-grill steaks, sustainable seafood, and spice rubs.All menu items will continue to be available for takeout and delivery.
