Without sponsorship and the generous grants and donations received, this Festival
would not take place. Please note that it costs a minimum of $20 per item to run the
Festival. We simply could not ask our competitors for that amount.

Welcome to the 58th annual SAPACS Festival! If this will be your first Festival with us,
then we are especially looking forward to hearing you play. We would ask that you take
careful note of the following “Competition Protocols” and “General Rules”.

Age: Will be taken as at 25 June 2022. It is VERY important that you enter classes for your correct
age as at the 25th June NOT at date of your section of the festival.
See further details below.
10 Years & Under open category – all competitors MUST be 10 years & Under
12 Years & Under groups - competitors MUST all be 12 Years & under.
12-15 Years – all competitors MUST not be over 15 years
15 Years & Over groups – At leat 1 competitor should be over 15.

Restricted Classes are open to competitors who have NOT WON A FIRST PLACING AT THESE OR
ANY SIMILAR COMPETITIONS AT ANY AGE at time of entry.

Music: Please upload music to the WE Developments glide app. More information will be emailed to all

Special SAPACS Groups Information: Competitors will be permitted to appear twice only in any
Group Class. Also: If a studio is entering several groups in any one class, please ensure that at least
half the members of a group are different e.g. you can not enter the same or very similar group of
dancers twice in any one class. Of course, the same or similar group can dance in different classes e.g.
lyrical and jazz, as they have different class numbers. (This ruling keeps the SAPACS dance groups in
line with all the music & speech groups which have this rule).

Time Limit: There is a maximum time limit of four (4) minutes per group item. unless you are entered in
the nomination award. If you are entered in the nomination award you will then be permitted five (5)
minutes. See rules below.

trophies as noted in syllabus. Any additional awards and donated prizes will be advised in the
programme.

Recording Items: Generally, a competitor may arrange for his/her performance to be recorded by an
audience member. IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES may you record, on any device, another performer
without their permission. Flash photography is not allowed DURING an item. Please use tripods with
consideration for the audience and note that the adjudicator’s view must not be obscured. PLEASE DO
NOT SIT IN FRONT OF THE ADJUDICATOR WHILE FILMING. Adjudicator’s comments are NOT
to be recorded.

Performance and Audience Protocols - Mobile phones, watch alarms and other noise-emitting
electronic devices must be SWITCHED OFF on total silent mode (i.e. no vibrating alert). All competitors
and audience are respectfully reminded that it is unsettling and distracting to have movement in the
auditorium/room during an item. PLEASE do not attempt to leave or enter until a competitor has finished
performing. Check the door does not slam/bang behind you.
