Our Competitions are supported by the Creative Communities Local Funding Scheme, Auckland. Very many thanks also to all our other sponsors and supporters. Your assistance and encouragement to our competitors is always appreciated. Without sponsorship and the generous grants and donations received, this Festival would not take place. Please note that it costs a minimum of $20 per item to run the Festival. We simply could not ask our competitors for that amount. SPONSORSHIP/DONATIONS - GENERAL INFORMATION All cash/special prizes provided to SAPACS are classed as donations. You will be issued with a receipt and the amount can be claimed as a donation from Inland Revenue with your tax return using the following • Charities number – CC38794 • IRD Donee number – 56-046-429 Sponsor A Class § $12 medals (juniors) § $16 miniature trophy (your name engraved as sponsor on it) – not available for the Tap section § Special Prizes & Trophies. § $30 sponsors a senior class for cash prizes. Your sponsorship is acknowledged here in the programme, on the website and also verbally during the Festival whenever possible. All sponsors who contribute $50 or more will receive a “Festival Pass” which gives free admission for Two People to all sessions throughout this year’s Festival. If we have missed getting your sponsorship into the Programme, we will announce it at the Festival. “Friends of SAPACS” For a minimum $20 donation, your name will have been placed in the front of this programme under our “Friends” list as well as on our website homepage. There is also a list at the front desk. This donation gives free admission for One Person to all sessions throughout this year’s Festival. PLEASE NOTE: AT THE TIME OF PUBLISHING THIS PROGRAMME THERE ARE NO CATERERS TO KEEP THE PUBLIC KITCHEN OPEN THIS YEAR. Please provide your own drinks and food, or you will need to drive to the Town Centre for refreshments. Audience: The $10 charge for one support person and venue hire (for that section) is automatically added to your entry form. Donations (koha) for additional entry at the Hawkins Theatre can be made at the door. Pukekohe venue charges are $5, $8, $10 per adult for one, two and three sessions respectively. Concessions for children and seniors. No eftpos available. OVERVIEW OF 2022 FESTIVAL PUKEKOHE Junior Piano Section will commence Wednesday 13th and run to Friday 15th July. The venue will be the Uplift Centre, 52 Franklin Road, Pukekohe Note that Senior Piano will be held in the Hawkins Theatre the following week. PAPAKURA – Hawkins Theatre Wednesday 20th July to Sunday 24th July (second week of the school holidays) Senior Piano Wednesday 20th only followed by Vocal sections. Junior Vocal Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd Adult Vocal Friday evening 22nd, Saturday and Sunday 23rd & 24th July. Vocal Groups please see 12th August. Junior Piano please refer to Pukekohe dates. Friday 29th July to Sunday 31st July (end of first week of Term Three) Acoustic Instrumental Section Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August 6th: Tap (day and evening sessions) 7th: Troupes (day session only) 6th: Highland (at Karaka Hall) Friday 12th to Sunday 14th August 12th: late afternoon/evening Vocal Groups 13th and 14th: Ballet sessions as organised Note that the Instrumental Group session originally scheduled for 5th August has been cancelled. We will be using the app from WE Developments for music, check ins, and timings. Please refer to the app for an accurate up to date time of classes – more info and app link will be emailed to all competitors. SAPACS will only run up to 60 minutes ahead. If this will be your first Festival with us, then we are especially looking forward to hearing you play. We would ask that you take careful note of the following “Competition Protocols” and “General Rules”. Age: Will be taken as at 25 June 2022. It is VERY important that you enter classes for your correct age as at the 25th June NOT at date of your section of the festival. See further details below. 10 Years & Under open category – all competitors MUST be 10 years & Under 12 Years & Under groups - competitors MUST all be 12 Years & under. 12-15 Years – all competitors MUST not be over 15 years 15 Years & Over groups – At leat 1 competitor should be over 15. This is not an average age competition. Restricted Classes are open to competitors who have NOT WON A FIRST PLACING AT THESE OR ANY SIMILAR COMPETITIONS AT ANY AGE at time of entry. Music: Please upload music to the WE Developments glide app. More information will be emailed to all competitors Special SAPACS Groups Information: Competitors will be permitted to appear twice only in any Group Class. Also: If a studio is entering several groups in any one class, please ensure that at least half the members of a group are different e.g. you can not enter the same or very similar group of dancers twice in any one class. Of course, the same or similar group can dance in different classes e.g. lyrical and jazz, as they have different class numbers. (This ruling keeps the SAPACS dance groups in line with all the music & speech groups which have this rule). Time Limit: There is a maximum time limit of four (4) minutes per group item. unless you are entered in the nomination award. If you are entered in the nomination award you will then be permitted five (5) minutes. See rules below. Prizes: Special SAPACS ribbons will be presented to placegetters in all troupe classes. Overall points trophies as noted in syllabus. Any additional awards and donated prizes will be advised in the programme. Recording Items: Generally, a competitor may arrange for his/her performance to be recorded by an audience member. IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES may you record, on any device, another performer without their permission. Flash photography is not allowed DURING an item. Please use tripods with consideration for the audience and note that the adjudicator’s view must not be obscured. PLEASE DO NOT SIT IN FRONT OF THE ADJUDICATOR WHILE FILMING. Adjudicator’s comments are NOT to be recorded. Performance and Audience Protocols - Mobile phones, watch alarms and other noise-emitting electronic devices must be SWITCHED OFF on total silent mode (i.e. no vibrating alert). All competitors and audience are respectfully reminded that it is unsettling and distracting to have movement in the auditorium/room during an item. PLEASE do not attempt to leave or enter until a competitor has finished performing. Check the door does not slam/bang behind you. 7
