Hatching Hope Foundation P.O. Box 166752 Irving, TX 75016 Dear Future HHF Steps for Autism Walk Sponsor, I am writing to solicit your support and sponsorship for our 4th Annual Steps for Autism Walk. The Hatching Hope Foundation (HHF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to bringing autism awareness to the underrepresented and minority areas in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. This exciting and informative event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kiest Park in Dallas, Texas, on April 28, 2018. The Hatching Hope Foundation is now accepting corporate sponsorships to make this event a great success. We are requesting the support of local corporations and business owners to make this event one that continues to have a lasting effect on the Dallas community. By providing your sponsorship, making a monetary donation or donating goods/services for this event, you will be making a difference in the lives of families living with autism right here in our local community. Corporate sponsorships range from $350 to over $5,000. The deadline for inclusion of your logo on the event t-shirt is March 16, 2018. Please take a moment to review the attached sponsorship information for all the details. We would love to have you partner with us in this important community event! April is Autism Awareness month and this is very significant for us at the HHF as we strive to promote the importance of everyone learning about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but more importantly how it affects minorities. Autism is reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. According to the latest statistics released by the CDC in 2015, 1 in 68 children are now affected. However, the research consistently notes that children of African American, Hispanic, and Asian decent are more likely to be identified later. Likewise, minority families and families with lower incomes or limited education had more difficulty entering the early intervention system. These facts directly relate to our mission which aims to change this growing trend. The HHF has an unwavering commitment to ensure that minorities understand how this growing developmental disability affects their community. Autism early intervention services are critical in changing the quality of life for those living with autism and those that don’t get treatment early may require longer and more intensive intervention. For more information about the Hatching Hope Foundation and autism, please visit our website at www.hatchinghope.org. If you have any questions, you call me at (214) 493-1140 or email me at svaughn@hatchinghope.org. I am also willing to meet with you in person to help in the decision- making process. I look forward to hearing from you soon and confirming your sponsorship. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Sabrina Vaughn Sabrina Vaughn, HHF Executive Director Page 2 of 8
Hatching Hope Foundation 4th Annual ‘Steps for Autism’ Walk Saturday, April 28, 2018 Kiest Park-3080 S. Hampton-Dallas, TX 75224 About the HHF Hatching Hope Foundation is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been serving families affected by autism and similar related developmental disabilities for three years. Based in Irving, Texas, the HHF service offering includes family support and consultation services, workshops for childcare providers and staff, interactive presentations for elementary, middle and high school staff and personnel. Founded in 2013, The Hatching Hope Foundation serves more than 40 families regularly and over 350 child care service providers or those that have a direct connection to autism early intervention throughout Dallas, Tarrant, Ellis, and other local counties in the DFW Metroplex. Our Mission Our mission is to increase autism awareness in underrepresented communities by educating, encouraging, and advocating for families that are affected directly or indirectly by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Understanding Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. With the May 2013 publication of the DSM-5 diagnostic manual, all autism disorders were merged into one umbrella diagnosis of ASD. Previously, they were recognized as distinct subtypes, including autistic disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and Asperger syndrome. ASD can be associated with intellectual disability, difficulties in motor coordination and attention and physical health issues such as sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances. Some persons with ASD excel in visual skills, music, math and art. Autism appears to have its roots in very early brain development. However, the most obvious signs of autism and symptoms of autism tend to emerge between 2 and 3 years of age. Autism Statistics Experts and researchers across the country agree that autism is now the leading childhood developmental disorder in the United States, affecting over 3 million Americans and tens of millions worldwide. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify around 1 in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum–a ten-fold increase in prevalence in 40 years. Careful research shows that this increase is only partly explained by improved diagnosis and awareness. Studies also show that autism is four to five times more common among boys than girls. Moreover, government autism statistics suggest that prevalence rates have increased 10 to 17 percent annually in recent years. There is no Page 3 of 8
established explanation for this continuing increase, although improved diagnosis and environmental influences are two reasons often considered. HHF Autism Services Our foundation’s plethora of experience in the field of autism and ADHD as parents and professionals enables us to adapt each environment, program, or coaching session to the unique needs of each family or organization we service. For families, our goal is to help them support their child toward enabling him or her to live as independently as possible within their community. We have broken our services down into three distinct categories. Knowledge Our service programs are geared toward educating communities on the signs and symptoms of autism. In our 30, 60, or 90 minute interactive presentations, we provide the real truth about autism and daily living. We urge our clients and families to pay attention to those in their family and classrooms so that autism can be identified sooner than later. More importantly, we teach how essential it is for us to make early intervention our top priority in our community. Even if a child exhibit a few of the markers associated with autism, your team must be quick in communicating worrisome behavior to the parent for immediate action. The more knowledge that communities have about what autism is and what it isn't the less fear will exist in our communities. Don't delay, book your presentation today and give your staff the advantage. Vision Our goal is to help families immediately create an action plan that will best benefit their child and their entire family. We urge families to contact a medical professional immediately to begin the process toward early detection. Additionally, we help families create a two year plan that consists of managing life with their new reality, finding therapies, and funding resources. Fortitude Our main objective is to give families the strength they need to continue renewing their spirit on this lifelong autism journey. We accomplish this by hosting support groups at various facilities in the Dallas area. Additionally, we offer online support groups on Facebook. It is important to remember this autism journey is long marathon and not a sprint. This seems like it should be easy to grasp, but once parents start working with their child and setting up services, they must often be reminded of this. In our few years of existence, The Hatching Hope Foundation (HHF) has continued to introduce new and specialized training methods and continue to research resources to provide our families with the most accurate information available. Each year, more organizations are reaching out to the HHF to educate their staff on autism awareness. Likewise, more families are contacting us seeking help for guidance on local resources, school placement, nutrition options, etc. Our small staff is highly educated and skilled; but, most importantly, we have a big heart for the community we serve. Last year alone, our staff attended autism summits, webinars, and other autism events that increased our knowledge base. We provided training for almost 350 professionals from schools, child care centers and community agencies. Additionally, the HHF provided resources and referral services for more than 50 parents of children with autism. Page 4 of 8
