1. POPULATION Population Prince Edward County has a very stable year-round population of just over 25,000. The seasonal population increases by approximately 6,000 in the summer months. 5. TRANSPORTATION GARRY SMITH FERRY Travellers from Kingston can access Prince Edward County by Glenora Ferry on Highway 33 east. The FREE ferry departs from Glenora 365 days a year. 9. WASTE & RECYCLING Kathleen Sabyan/The Times Curbside GarBAGe Collection is contracted to Waste Management Canada (800.267.7874) and is collected weekly. Garbage bags must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. with a $3.00 Bag Tag clearly visible and attached to the bag. The maximum weight of each bag cannot exceed 40 pounds. CURBSIDE GREEN BIN RECYCLING COLLECTION Prince Edward County is collaborating with Waste Management to implement an Organics (Green Bin) Recycling program. Participation in the program is voluntary. The Green Bin program is open to residents with regularly scheduled, curbside garbage pick-up. Waste & Curbside Recycling Collection is contracted to Quinte Waste Solutions (800.210.0762) and is collected bi-weekly. Blue boxes must be used for curbside pickup. Recycling Land Transfer Stations Use any of the recycling depots at all Landfill Sites/Transfer Stations on Saturdays for your recyclables. You may dispose of your garbage at the Landfill Sites/Transfer Stations.
