GENERAL RECREATION & AQUATICS INFORMATION ABOUT US McFarland Recrea on, Aqua cs, & Play (MRAP) offers a wide variety of safe and affordable recrea on and aqua cs programming for families in the McFarland area. Our facili es include all schools within the McFarland School District, including the Angie O’Donnell Aqua c Center. McFarland Community Pool was re‐named The Angie O’Donnell Aqua c Center in honor of Mrs. Angela Orr O’Donnell. Angie ba led ovarian cancer for six years and passed away on Oct. 23rd, 2011. Coach Angie was an amazing woman who dedicated countless hours of her me to this facility, the McFarland Spartan Sharks swim team, and the sport of swimming. For example, if your child is currently a 2nd grader, you will register for programs offered for 2nd graders within this guide. PHOTO POLICY McFarland Recrea on, Aqua cs, & Play (MRAP) uses photos of par cipants in bulle ns, displays, and social media to inform others of our recrea onal opportuni es. If you do not want a par cipant’s photo to be used in this manner, you must inform MRAP in wri ng prior to the start of the program. Please email mrap@mcfsd.org with your par cipant’s name, grade, which ac vity they are scheduled to par cipate in. 3
FEES, PAYMENTS, REFUNDS Online registra on will require online payment. Once you are finished registering for your ac vi es, you will be required to complete payment using a credit/debit card. If you do not pay online at that me, you will not be registered for your ac vi es. All credit card transac ons (whether online or in‐person) will in‐ clude a $1.95 credit card processing fee. If you would prefer to use cash or check, you must register in‐person at McFarland High School please contact MRAP at 838‐4666 to schedule at me to register in‐person (office hours vary). In‐person registra on/payment op ons include cash, check, or credit card. Par cipants will NOT be allowed to par cipate in an ac vity un l payment and the online waiver have been completed. Fee Assistance—It is the belief of MRAP that no child in the McFarland School District shall be denied par cipa on in any program for lack of ability to pay. If your family par cipates in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program, or if you would like to request financial assistance, please contact us. We can help, but it is your responsibility to make the request. Requests must be made annually. Please contact us at mrap@mcfsd.org if you are in a posi on where you need financial assistance in paying for a program or ac vity. Refund Policy—Refunds will be issued on a case‐by‐case basis and will need approval from MRAP. A full refund is given if your cancella on is during the normal, online registra on period. Once online registra on closes, a 50% refund is given if the cancella on is made by the first day of the ac vity (BEFORE the start of the ac vity that day). No refund is given for cancella ons a er the ac vity has started without a wri en medical excuse signed by a physician. Please contact MRAP at 608‐838‐ 4666 for assistance with any refund requests for recrea on ac vi es; Please contact The Angie O’Donnell Aqua c Center at 608‐838‐3168 for assistance with any pool refunds. *PLEASE NOTE: MRAP reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes if the class minimum (when applicable) is not met. If classes are canceled due to low enrollment, refunds for the ac vity fee will be issued. Credit card fees will not be refunded for any reason. FACILITY CLOSURE POLICY If the School District of McFarland closes school for any reason (weather, maintenance, public health, etc…) all recrea on and aqua cs programming will also be canceled. Efforts will be made to post this informa on on our Facebook page (facebook.com/McFarlandRAP) as soon as it is made available to staff. MRAP and the Angie O’Donnell Aqua c Center reserves the right to cancel and/or re‐schedule any of our programs or ac vi es for any reason. 4

2022‐2023 SPRING RECREATION ACTIVITIES School‐aged par cipants should register for ac vi es based on the current grade level they are/will be in for the 2022‐2023 school year. For example, if your child is currently a 2nd grader, you will register for programs offered for 2nd graders within this guide. 4K‐2ND GRADE BASEBALL IN‐HOUSE LEAGUES Adult volunteers are needed to coach these ac vi es. Please indicate your willingness to coach while registering. Please register for Tee Ball and Coach Pitch ac vi es no later than May 7th, 2023. Tee Ball Skills & Drills In‐House Baseball League (Preschool/4K & Kindergarteners 2022‐2023 school year) (Preschool/4K par cipants must have turned four years old by 9‐1‐2022) Tee Ball is a six‐week, parent volunteer led skill development program. Par cipants will learn the "FUNdamentals" of recrea onal baseball including throwing, catching, fielding, and teamwork. Prac ces and games will be scheduled on Thursday evenings. This is an in‐house recrea onal league with a con nuous ba ng order where par cipants will hit from tees. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED: We are in need of several volunteer coaches (minimum two per team); please indicate your willingness to volunteer coach while registering. There will be a MANDATORY VIRTUAL COACH MEETING on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 ‐ 5:30PM. INDIVIDUALS WANTING TO COACH MUST ATTEND THIS VIRTUAL MEETING. Grades: Preschool/4K & Kindergarten (2022‐2023 school year) ‐Preschool/4K par cipants must have turned four years old by 9‐1‐2022 Dates: Prac ces & games will be scheduled on Thursday evenings, June 15th—July 27th, 2023 (no prac ce/games 4th of July week) —MAKE UP DATES/REFUNDSFOR RAINOUTS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED Time: Once a week, 45‐minute evening prac ce followed by a game ‐ exact mes TBD. (Either 5:00PM prac ce/5:45PM game OR 6:45PM prac ce/7:30PM game) ‐ par cipants are not able to choose their individual prac ce/game mes and may vary week to week. Please plan to be flexible on Thursday evenings if enrolled in this league. Loca ons: All prac ces & games will be played at either Conrad Elvehjem School (6009 Johnson St.) or Waubesa Intermediate School (5605 Red Oak Trl.) Fee: $55.00 Registra on Deadline: May 7th, 2023 Min/Max Registrants: 18 / No limit Equipment Required by Par cipant: Ba ng helmet, glove, and appropriate athle c clothing. Personal bats are highly encouraged but not required; team‐shared bats and all other equipment will be provided by MRAP. All par cipants will receive a t‐shirt if registered by the deadline. BASEBALL CAMPS & CLINICS NEW! Tee Ball & Coach Pitch Baseball Mini‐Clinics (Preschool—2nd Graders 2022‐2023 school year) (Preschool/4K par cipants must have turned four years old by 9‐1‐2022) Join MRAP staff for a short mini‐clinic for tee ball & coach pitch age par cipants and coaches. Par cipants will work through a variety of drills and games with current and former MHS baseball & so ball players to further improve their current tee ball or coach pitch skills. Par cipants are NOT required to be enrolled in the MRAP tee ball/coach pitch leagues; but are highly encouraged to be involved with those programs as it will provide much more me to hone these skills. 2023 TEE BALL & COACH PITCH COACHES! Instruc on will be lead by MHS Baseball Coach John Feldner and his HS coaching staff as well as former MHS baseball players. We will focus on hi ng, throwing mechanics, fielding (both infield and ou ield), pitching/catching fundamentals, and base running. Instruc on will be tailored to the needs of the par cipants. This ac vity is designed for those who have had several years of compe ve playing experience. Games are played against surrounding communi es. Team prac ces will be scheduled 1‐2 mes per week and will depend on coach, player, and field availability. Approximately 12—15 games are scheduled for this season. If you wish to purchase your own bat, all bats must be in compliance with the WIAA and HFHS standards and have a BBCOR stamp to be legal. One piece wood bats are acceptable – NO Composite Wood Bats will be allowed. 2 5/8” Bat USA cer fied bats are also acceptable. 17U Baseball League (10th & 11th Graders 2022‐2023 school year) MRAP will again be offering a 10th & 11th grade summer baseball league. 3RD‐6TH GRADE SOFTBALL CAMPS MRAP has once again partnered with the McFarland Youth So ball Associa on to offer our youth so ball camps. Camps are run by the McFarland Youth So ball Associa on. Informa on about the 2022 Summer So ball League can be found at www.mcfarlandyouthso ball.com Please register for so ball camp op ons no later than May 15th, 2022. 3rd/4th Grade So ball Camp (3rd & 4th Graders 2022‐2023 school year) During the 3rd/4th grade so ball camp, par cipants will a end prac ces for four days, Monday—Thursday mornings, June 12th— 15th, 2023, 8:30‐10:00AM at the Waubesa Intermediate School So ball fields. The focus of this camp is to introduce the game of so ball to those that are new to the game and to focus on skill development for those that are returning to the game. Par cipants will learn about the rules of so ball and par cipate in various fielding, hi ng, and pitching drills. All skill levels are welcome! High School So ball Coach, Lea Lackey, will be coaching this camp. In addi on, High School So ball players will assist in coaching at this grade level. Each par cipant will receive a t‐shirt with paid ac vity cost. K‐2nd Grade Nature Hike (K‐2nd Graders 2022‐2023 school year) Join us for a fun morning nature hike as we explore the Indian Mound Conserva on Park! Hikers in grades K‐ 2nd are invited to join our school district’s Outdoor Educa on Coordinator, Cyndy White, for a morning of explora on and crea vity! We will start at Indian Mound Middle School, then hike through the 16 acre Indian Mound Conserva on Park directly adjacent to the middle school. We will also be crea ng a fun nature‐themed project to bring home. Par cipants will have the opportunity to see and explore a variety of ecosystems in a small area. American Red Cross Babysi ng Basics – ONLINE – Ages 11+ This course is designed for par cipants ages 11 years old or older. This online‐only, self‐paced course is offered by the American Red Cross and will prepare students to be be er babysi ers! POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR SAFE SWIMMING AT THE AOAC About our Facility: The McFarland Community Pool was re‐named The Angie O’Donnell Aqua c Center in honor of Mrs. Angela Orr O’Donnell. Angie ba led ovarian cancer for six years and passed away on Oct. 23rd, 2011. Coach Angie was an amazing woman who dedicated countless hours of her me to this facility, the McFarland Spartan Sharks swim team, and the sport of swimming. She le a legacy to all of her swimmers and this community by celebra ng life every day. ‐ “Every Day Counts!”‐ Angie O’Donnell Pool/Recrea on Office Loca on: Both the Recrea on Office and the pool are located in McFarland High School. Please use the NEW SOUTH pool parking lot for most pool programs! This south pool parking is located near the Exchange St. / Renee Ct. intersec on! This lot has 80 parking spaces and offers easy access to our aqua c center and performing arts facili es.
