Promote efforts to educate and enroll New Mexicans in
affordable health insurance coverage that promotes
better access to timely, high quality healthcare.

Who is beWellnm
• The only place where a consumer can shop, compare, and enroll in
a Qualified Health Plan (QHP)
• “Marketplace” or “Exchange” where qualified insurance companies
sell plans
• Compare plan options side by side (apples to apples)
• The ONLY place to qualify for premium subsidies to help reduce the
cost of insurance coverage
• Find local certified free help to enroll
• Enrollment is made easy

Marketplace Affordability Program
• Marketplace Affordability Program (MAP)
– Other names you may hear: New
• Health Care Affordability Fund
• Health Insurance Marketplace Affordability Program
• MAP has two key programs:
– To reduce monthly premiums
• New Mexico Premium Assistance and Native American Premium
Assistance
– To reduce monthly out-of-pocket costs
• Turquoise Plans & Max Savings

How Marketplace Affordability Program Works
• New Mexico Premium Assistance
– Income levels up to 400% of the FPL who qualify for the federal premium tax credit on
beWellnm
• New Turquoise Plans provided by the State of New Mexico
• Extra Savings Plans
• Native American Premium Assistance
– Includes NM Premium Assistance
– Provides no-cost premium options to members of a Federally recognized tribe up to 300%
FPL who qualify for beWellnm and reduces premiums between 300-400% FPL
• Max Savings Plans
• Extra Savings Plans
Must qualify base on:
- Annual gross income
- Tax family household

Benefits for Native Americans
• Can enroll anytime! Not limited to open enrollment or a special enrollment
period
• Can still access care at Indian Health Service or Tribal Healthcare Centers
• Can access care at a contracted provider or facility through the insurance
company
– Useful if you live far away from an IHS/Tribal Health Center or you would like to see an non-
IHS/Tribal Health Center provider
– If traveling out of state or on vacation and need emergency medical attention your qualified
health plan through bewellnm will have you covered for the visit

Medicaid Unwinding
• Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act
– Ending of Medicaid Continuous Enrollment Requirement
– Redeterminations may begin 4/01/2023
• HSD will begin to contact members to make sure their contact
information is up to date
• Medicaid members will have to complete the renewal process
– If financially ineligible or if individuals fail to return the necessary
forms, their case will be closed and Medicaid termed.
