Cedric Rembert (CL) education in South Carolina for over 50 years. The South Carolina Speech & SCSTA President Theatre Association, or SCSTA, was founded in 1958 and was formerly known as the South Carolina Speech Association (SCSA) and later, the South Carolina Lander University Welcome Address................................................................................Dr. Scott Jones Speech Communication Association (SCSCA). In 1970, the Association sponsored Provost & Executive VP for Academic Affairs, Lander University its first speech festival for high school students. As the festival competitions continued, the members added more and more theatre and acting events. Festival Information...................................................................................Monique Sacay-Bagwell (LU) Additionally, the organization added the College division and the Middle School Department Chair, Media and Communication division to create the current organizational setup. SCSTA Festival Liaison SCSTA is a professional organization that promotes the study of all areas of performance and oral communication: acting, oral interpretation/performance studies, theatre, broadcasting, public speaking, discussion and debate, and ◼ 10:00-10:20 - Adjudicators Training Meeting with Leah Wren, speech/theatre education. SCSTA serves both the public and private schools SCSTA Admin. Coordinator, Lois Grier Room, Adjudicators Lounge and the colleges and universities in South Carolina through three spring (Upstairs, above Chick-fil-A) festival competitions, and through recognition of outstanding contributors to our efforts. SCSTA holds three division festivals annually (College, High School, ◼ 10:15 - Participants, please proceed to your Event Rooms and Middle School). ◼ 10:30-11:30 - Round One The festivals for Middle School, High School, and College students are held ◼ 11:45-12:45 - Round Two annually. These one-day festivals include individual and small group events in a variety of categories such as Audition Monologue, Duet Acting, Original ◼ 12:45-2:30 - Lunch Monologues, Reader’s Theatre, Impromptu Speaking, and Musical Theatre. All participants receive feedback from adjudicators. Students receiving the ◼ 2:00-2:30 - Adjudicators Training Meeting with Leah Wren, highest scores in their rounds advance to finals, and the top 3 performers in SCSTA Admin. Coordinator, Lois Grier Room, Adjudicators Lounge each category are recognized at an awards ceremony at the end of the day.
