GAMES OVERVIEW ABOUT THE 2022 DONATE LIFE TRANSPLANT GAMES From July 29 to August 3, 2022, San Diego will be home to the world’s largest celebration of life - the 2022 Donate Life Transplant Games. Thousands of people from all 50 states and the world will travel to the Golden State to unite, honor the families who have given the gift of life and raise awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation. The 2022 Donate Life Transplant Games will bring together thousands of transplant recipients, living donors, donor families, caregivers, individuals on the waiting list, donation and transplant professionals, supporters, volunteers and spectators for truly unique and inspiring week. During these exciting six days, attendees will stay in San Diego hotels, ride the Trolley, eat in Gaslamp restaurants, and explore landmarks and attractions in areas like La Jolla, Ocean Beach and Coronado. The 2022 Games will feature 20 competitions and more than 60 special events and programs. Building on the success of previous Games, the Transplant Life Foundation and the 2022 Local Organizing Committee are ready to make the San Diego Transplant Games the most impactful one yet! Transplant Games of America Mission Statement To increase awareness of the life-restoring importance of organ, cornea, bone marrow and tissue donation through the lives of the athlete-recipients and the lasting legacy of donors. To involve the entire transplant community - healthcare providers, recipients, donor, donor families, individuals awaiting transplantation, recovery agencies, and other related organizations - in a shared mission to highlight the benefits of donation. To increase the number of individuals registering as donor candidates, state-by-state, and on the National Donate Life Registry by supporting existing campaigns and harnessing the energy and drive of recipients through the Transplant Game events, partnerships, marketing, and related communications.
EVENTS OVERVIEW About the Competitions The 2022 Donate Life Transplant Games offer 20 different athletic and recreational competitions for athletes to medal in and participants to enjoy! 5k Run AGE DIVISIONS Badminton Ballroom Dancing Basketball ADULTS YOUTH Bowling Cornhole 14 - 17 5 and under Cycling Darts 18 - 29 6 - 10 Golf Lyrics for Life 30 - 39 11 - 13 Pickleball Swimming 40 - 49 Table Tennis Tennis 50 - 59 Texas Hold-em Poker Track & Field 60 - 69 Trivia Challenge Virtual Triathlon 70 - 79 Volleyball Youth Olympiad 80 + Organ recipients compete against each other in Division 1, while living donors and tissue, cornea and bone marrow recipients compete in Division 2. In 2020, the Transplant Games opened up select competitions for donor families to participate and medal in: 5k Run, Ballroom Dancing, Lyrics for Life and Trivia Challenge. Our competitions help transplant recipients stay healthy, honor their donors, and embrace their second chance at life. For living donors, our competitions serve as an opportunity to engage within their community and a chance to train and compete alongside other remarkable donors.

Additional locations will be announced in the coming months.
EVENTS OVERVIEW Special Events Schedule We celebrate just as hard as we compete. Each day of the Games will include a special event focusing on the lives and accomplishments of transplant recipients, living donors and donor families. Friday Welcome Event Kick-off Opening Weekend connec�ng with old friends and July 29, 2022 new at the Donate Life Transplant Games TGA Village. Saturday 5k Run/Walk Start the day with a robust 5k Run/Walk down the heart of July 30, 2022 San Diego’s beau�ful waterfront. TGA Parade Join thousands of San Diegans and TGA a�endees to view the inaugural Transplant Games Parade. Opening Ceremony Later catch the Opening Ceremony at the beau�ful TGA Village in the San Diego Conven�on Center. Sunday Donor Tribute A beau�ful spiritual and emo�onal tribute to our heroes July 31, 2022 who have selflessly given the gi� of life to so many. Monday Salute to Veterans Paying our deep respects to the service women and men August 1, 2022 who also belong to the dona�on and transplanta�on community. Quarter Century Club On board the USS Midway, we will honor Recipients, Living Dinner and Dance Donors, and Donor Families who have been part of the dona�on and transplant journey for more than 25 years. Tuesday Living Donor Celebra�on Wai�ng for an organ could take years - �me that a pa�ent August 2, 2022 may not have. Living donors step in to offer life-saving solu�ons. Please join us to celebrate those heroes who have selflessly donated to save the lives of family, friends or complete strangers. Transplant Games Night See a great baseball game when the San Diego Padres take at Petco Park on the Colorado Rockies. Wednesday Farewell Party Join us on the last evening of the 2022 Games to celebrate August 3, 2022 and make plans for our reunion in 2024.
EVENTS OVERVIEW Honors Program Share stories, remember your loved one and learn about important topics related to donation and transplantation with our Honors Program. Each day at the Games, the Honors Program will feature a program specially tailored to either donor families, transplant recipients, caregivers, or living donors. Some programming includes: July 29 - August 3 Reflec�on Room Spend some special moments remembering your & Quilt Display loved one in a medita�ve se�ng and explore dozens of beau�ful and emo�onal quilt displays. July 29 & 30 Transplant Games Orienta�on Welcome to the TGA Family! Join us for a session that will help you navigate this unique experience and the community you are now a part of. July 30 - August 3 Programs & Workshops Join us for several interac�ve sessions where you can learn about some of the newest topics on organ dona�on and transplanta�on. July 31 Teen Talk Let’s be real - this is a pizza party for our younger TGA family members. Come share stories, get advice, and explore with your peers. July 31 & August 1 Coffee Houses Get some java and share memories of your loved one as you navigate the many twists and turns of your experience with organ dona�on and transplanta�on. August 1 Quilt Pinning Ceremonies Come share the story of your loved one as we accept new quilt squares depic�ng the lives of our heroes, later to be added to donor quilts for future display.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION Volunteer Information Join in and support our community! Every two years, the Donate Life Transplant Games bring together thousands of participants from all over the world to partake in a week-long celebration of donors, recipients and their families. This incredible event is made possible by many volunteers, like yourself, who want to be a part of something special and impactful. While the 2022 Donate Life Transplant games will officially take place in July of 2022, it’s never too early to step up, help and join the fun! How many volunteers are needed? The Games are supported by more than 3,000 volunteers. Many volunteers invite their friends and family to be a part of the experience with them. We also welcome large groups, corporations, fraternities, sororities, community clubs, sports teams and organizations that would like to work together to support our amazing event. What do volunteers do? There are so many ways you can help, from greeting and assisting our athletes, to lending a hand during competitions and special events. Each volunteer shift is four hours long and you can choose any open volunteer activity that you’d like. How do I sign up?
