7. Criteria for Invitations
Table Tennis England will invite eligible ranked players:

Senior rankings: 1 to 16 Men and Women on the Table Tennis England 22/04 2022 snapshot ranking list, published
7th December 2022. A further 1-14 Men and Women who qualified at the Mark Bates Ltd Senior National
Qualification event will be included, and in addition 2 wildcards per singles category will be selected. Should an
athlete decline their invitation, the next eligible player listed in order, from the Mark Bates Ltd Senior National
Qualifying event will be invited up to player number 32. If places remain after all qualifying places have been used,
then remaining places will be offered to eligible players on the 22/04 ranking list, published on 7th December, from
17 up to and including place 50.

U21 categories: The top 14 Men and 14 Women on the Table Tennis England 22/06 ranking list, published on 8th
February, will gain an invitation and 2 wildcards. Should an U21 athlete decline their invitation, the next eligible
player listed in order from the 22/06 Ranking List will be invited up to player number 35

Para Players: Table Tennis England will invite Para players based on BPTT selection, which is at the sole discretion of
BPTT, and Para players must also be current TTE members.

Athletes can only compete in the singles event which they have been invited.

It will be at the discretion of the Table Tennis England panel to select further players if the maximum entry hasn’t
been reached. Players cancelling after the acceptance of their entry will be subject to the refund process outlined
within the entry fee’s section.

     8. Eligibility
     Table Tennis England will only invite athletes for the above event who:
     a) Are affiliated to Table Tennis England, holding a valid Table Tennis England Compete Plus membership and in
        good standing.
     b) Are eligible to represent England in ITTF and ETTU approved competitions and have valid proof of British
        Citizenship.
     c) Are not currently under disqualification or suspension under the rules of Table Tennis England or ITTF & ETTU.
     d) Are not currently serving any sanction for an anti-doping rule violation under any relevant anti-doping rules.

9.      Timing & Ranking Lists
        Senior invites will be based on the 22/04 snapshot ranking list published on 7th December 2022, while U21 invites
        will be based on the 22/06 ranking list, published on 8th February. We will endeavor to complete invitations in a
        timely manner to allow athletes to enter the event, subject to them completing the relevant forms and payment.

        The closing date for all entries is midnight on Wednesday 8th March, please ensure that you complete your
        registration fully and make full payment promptly, in order for your entry to be accepted. In the event that a player
        does not submit their completed application on time, the Tournament Director (or their representative) may offer
        their place to the next eligible player.

        Seeding will be based on the 22/07 Ranking List publication date 8th March 2023, at the discretion of the Referee.
        The draw will take place on Thursday 23rd March at 10:30 live at the David Ross Sports Village for the Men’s and
        Women’s Singles. The draw for the Doubles and Under 21’s will take place w/c 13th March for the Doubles and
        Under 21’s.

 10. Withdrawal of invitation
 Table Tennis England retains the right to withdraw an invitation from an athlete under any of the following
 circumstances:
 • The athlete is no longer eligible for this event
 • Any exceptional circumstances, which in the reasonable opinion of Table Tennis England, justifies the withdrawal of
     the athlete concerned.
 Any athlete who is withdrawn will immediately be notified of the decision and the reason.

11.      Fees & Membership
         Each player will be required to pay an entry fee. Payment must be paid via Sport:80. Instructions for payment will
         be detailed within the entry system.

         All entrants must have a current Table Tennis England Compete Plus membership:

Refunds for entries will only be issued to players who have withdrawn in the below timescale:
         • Prior to the deadline date – Full refund minus a £5 admin charge.
         • After the deadline date and prior to the draw date – Full refund minus a £10 admin charge.
         • After the draw there will be no refunds available
   12. Formats
   Singles Categories - The format will be group stages (comprising of 8 groups of 3 players, with 1 player qualifying)
   played to the best of 5 games, followed by knock-out matches played to the best of 7 games, 11 up. The top 8 seeds
   will get a bye to the last 16 stages.

      U21’s Categories – The format will be group stages (comprising of 4 groups of 3 players, with 1 player qualifying)
      played to the best of 5 games, followed by knock-out matches played to the best of 5 games, 11 up. The top 4 seeds
      will get a bye to the quarter final stages.

      Doubles Categories - Matches will be played on a knockout basis, played to the best of 5 games, 11 up, and will
      involve 16 pairs for each category.

      Para Categories - The Para categories will play in 2 groups of 3, for each competition followed by knockout matches
      played to the best of 5 games, 11 up. Knock out matches will be played to the best of 5 games, 11 up.

      Classes 3-5 are for physical impairment (sitting), class 1 being the most severely affected and class 5 having the most
      physical functionality.
      Classes 6-10 are for physical impairment (standing), class 6 being the most severe and class 10 the least.
      These are set by the International Paralympic Committee.

13. Sunday Format
Sunday matches will use International standard pre-match procedures, and multi-ball will also be in operation. There
will be on-court presentations between Sunday’s matches.

14. Prize Fund
The tournament will be offering prize money in each of the competition categories. The prize money on offer for the
tournament will be as below:

15. Weighting
These events carry a Table Tennis England ranking weighting of 2.25.

 16. Racket testing
 Racket tests will be implemented at this event, randomly selected according to ITTF World regulations.

 17. Equipment
 Table:        Butterfly Europa and Centerfold 25mm top
 Nets & Posts: Butterfly
 Balls:        Butterfly R40+ 3* plastic ball (white)
 Flooring:     Triofloor
 The tournament will be played on 6 tables on Friday and Saturday, reducing to one table on Sunday, courts minimum
 Size 12m x 6m, with 8 practice tables available back of house on Fri/ Sat, and 2 on Sunday.

 18. Anti-doping
 Anti-doping testing may be carried out through this event, randomly selected according to ITTF regulations.

 19. Clothing
     Competitors are required to display their name on the back of their playing shirt at all times when playing.
     Therefore, please ensure that you are prepared for the event by having your name displayed on the back of any
     shirts you intend playing in.

 20. Mobile Phones
     Mobile phones are not permitted to be used within the match court area and should remain somewhere safe
     within your bag or with a parent or coach attending the event. Any player caught using their phone during time
     out, change of ends or during matches will forfeit the match.

21.   Covid Restrictions
      All entries and event details are subject to COVID-related restrictions, or protocols that Table Tennis England may
      deem necessary. Please note that venues used for events may impose COVID restrictions that go beyond
      government guidance.

22.   Photography and Streaming
      Table Tennis England will be taking photos and live streaming matches during this event which may include (but
      not limited to), using them in our printed and online platforms, social media, press releases and funding
      applications. If you do not give permission to take photographs and/or video of you (or individuals for whom you
      are legally responsible), please contact competitions@tabletennisengland.co.uk.

23.   Code of Conduct
      All participants and attendees at Table Tennis England events are subject to Table Tennis England Codes of
      Conduct https://www.tabletennisengland.co.uk/about-us/safeguarding/safeguarding-codes-of-conduct-and-
      terms-of-reference/

      We will not tolerate swearing or verbal abuse of volunteers, officials, staff or venue staff, nor a failure to follow
      the operational directions of stewards and event staff. We will treat all such instances extremely seriously and will

Whether or not the player is eligible under point 8, can be established by answering the following questions,
stopping as soon as “ELIGIBLE” or “NOT ELIGIBLE” has been reached.

Extract from ITTF Eligibility Regulations (for information only - not part of Schedule)
3.8.3 A player is eligible to represent an Association only if he is a national of the country in which that
Association has jurisdiction, except that a player who has already represented an Association of which he or she
was not a national in accordance with previous rules may retain that eligibility.
3.8.3.1 Where the players of more than one Association have the same nationality, a player may represent one
of these Associations only if he or she was born in or has his or her main residence, in the territory controlled by
that Association.
3.8.3.2 A player who is eligible to represent more than 1 Association shall have the right to choose which of the
relevant Associations he will represent.
3.8.5 A player shall not represent different Associations within a period of 3 years.
