This year began for us last July in the midst of a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Things shut down, but the needs we address throughout our community were still very much present. Maintaining support for our community partners and our patients required flexibility and creativity. Any admission to our shelter partners required a negative COVID-19 test. Rather than send people away, we decided to set up a drive-through testing site specifically for our community partners. New admissions, new staff or anyone with potential COVID-19 exposure could be conveniently tested and receive results promptly. It wasn’t easy. But in the end, it helped us provide care when and where it was needed. We couldn’t have done this without full cooperation and collaboration of all of our community partners, as well as some new ones. Epworth Children and Family Services allowed us to use their drop-in site as our drive-through. Aim Laboratories partnered to provide timely test results. The Missouri Department of Social Services provided financial support. And internally, our staff worked tirelessly to make this process run smoothly; Maggie Graf, RN & Director of Education; Lynelle Hinden, FNP; Teresa DuMaine, FNP; Kim Garavaglia, PNP; Stacy LoBello, FNP & CCO; Claire Stites, MA; and Raelyn Mortellaro, COO were amazing leaders in this effort. When the vaccine was available, we pivoted and adapted to the present needs of our community by transitioning to vaccine administration. We were blessed to get through it stronger than ever. This fiscal year was also filled with new and impactful opportunities for IFM and the community. We have been planning a major project with SSM Health DePaul Hospital and an expansion into the Bridgeton area. This fall, we are adding services to the Pattonville School District, Room at the Inn, Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and several other sites in Bridgeton. An additional expansion site will be a new IFM clinic located at Logos School this fall, a therapeutic school specializing in behavioral therapy for adolescents. Another very exciting change is the relocation of our administrative offices. IFM has outgrown our ‘little house on Loughborough,’ also known as my childhood home. This relocation is more than just a move. This is a change to a real business address for not-for-profit collaboration. We are moving to the Delmar Divine, located in the old St. Luke’s Regional Hospital on Delmar. The mixed-use development for social innovators will include more than 30 non-profit agencies, setting an example for community development, social improvement and collaboration in St. Louis and the nation. It will also put us more in the heart of our service area. Of our 20+ clinic sites, this new home base will be closer to 13 of them. As our fiscal year comes to a close, we look back with a sense of accomplishment in how we adapted to the challenges of the past year, and with gratitude to our staff, board of directors, community partners and donors who worked together to not only survive, but thrive. We look forward to unprecedented growth in the coming year, staying true to our mission: strengthening underserved communities, one patient at a time, to promote community health. Thank you for your continued support, Dave Campbell, M.D., M.Ed.

Fulfilling needs, improving lives IFM Community Medicine is a tremendously valuable partner to Youth In Need, providing high quality, culturally responsive health care to the children, youth and families we serve throughout the St. Louis region. From sending a nurse to our residential youth centers to screen and treat youth, to staffing clinics and a mobile health van, IFM truly meets people where they are to offer services that are easily accessible. Because of IFM, hundreds of children experiencing poverty, and youth transitioning out of homelessness, have improved physical health and overall well-being. IFM is an amazing resource for our community! - Pat Holterman-Hommes Youth In Need, CEO We could not be more grateful for our partnership with IFM Community Medicine. Each year, IFM provides an average of 1,500 physicals on site for children in our care, as well as around the clock medical consultation to ensure our little ones’ health needs are met during their stay at the Crisis Nursery. Last year, nearly half (45%) of the physicals IFM provided for our kids revealed a medical concern, and one in six children needed medication. - DiAnne Mueller The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, CEO There are several clinics in the city that provide service for underprivileged families, but the IFM clinic doesn’t just provide service. They provide care, concern, compassion, and no matter what a patient’s income, occupation, or race, they give the best care possible. They are truly making a difference. - Karen Kirk Lydia’s House, Executive Director As we found new ways to reach our most vulnerable population, we knew that our partnership with IFM would be instrumental in our design. IFM was the first to offer COVID-19 testing to St. Vincent ensuring that we can safely provide housing to youth in our programs. With the services provided by IFM we have increased our capacity to safely serve in our facility by 139%. IFM services mean so much to agency like St. Vincent and the youth in our care. - Staff Member St. Vincent Home for Children
