Patricia Argyros1 Juror Statement untitled mixed media/collage I am honored to serve as the judge for the 2021 Biennial competition 16 x 20 of the Greensburg Art Center (GAC). I applaud the GAC for its $300 commitment to the artist community and its patrons, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Art is to be celebrated and, indeed, it is the greatest expression of the human spirit. In reviewing the entries, I was intrigued by the variety of compositions, media, and techniques. As a professional artist Cindy Berceli and art critic, I have the utmost respect for the unique artist’s Big Hearted Giraffe Pastel voice and the diversity of perspectives offered to the patrons. My 18 x 12 criteria for judging the work included the nature and quality of $325 the composition, design, originality, timeliness, and impact. Above all, the work was judged on its merits. Indeed, excellent art can be Cindy Berceli found in many forms, as evidenced by the selected works. Black, White & Brown Goat Pastel It is my hope that the work that is selected for exhibition will 12 x 16 provide an amplified voice for the artist and raise awareness with $350 the community at large. Regardless of where an artist may be in terms of maturity, I believe that recognition of one’s work is one of Larry Brandstetter the critical stepping stones to success. Plus, art nourishes the heart Urban Union and the soul, especially during challenging times such as ours.
