2021 CHARITY LISTING for the National Capital Area/Northern Virginia DONATE TODAY AT GIVECFC.ORG HOSTED BY THE U.S. OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
Dear Federal, Military and Postal Employees, and Retirees, We are honored to serve as your co-chairs of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) this fall. As people who have worked in organizing and advocacy, efforts like this excite us, because it is a collaborative effort that gives everyone a chance to make a difference and has tangible impacts for families in every community. This year continues to challenge us all in unexpected ways in our neighborhoods, our nation, and around the world. From the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and economic struggles it continues to cause, to the extreme weather events like Hurricane Ida and the wildfires burning across the West, there is no shortage of reasons to give. It’s our hope that we all work together and make this year’s CFC a success. We invite all members of the federal community – wherever you are – to join the CFC community. With your gift through the CFC, you can make a difference for those who need it most: from International communities to Indian Country to local communities and everywhere in between. The CFC is our employee-focused and cost-efficient opportunity to improve the quality of life for those in need. Thanks to this incredible, voluntary philanthropy program, pledges from federal employees have topped $8.5 billion since 1961. Every dollar counts in making a positive change. This is our campaign – allowing us to give via payroll deduction, support multiple vetted charities with one donation, and even pledge our time to volunteer. People in need around the world are relying on our help now more than ever. Give to a charitable cause you care about through the CFC now through January 15, 2022. This year, in addition to our online CFC Giving System, an enhanced CFC Giving Mobile App for Apple and Android devices allows donors to pledge on the go through charity fairs, campaign events, and more. Dear Colleagues: The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) provides an opportunity for federal employees and retirees to be changemakers by giving, volunteering, and engaging. Generous donors within the federal community support participating CFC charities and the hundreds of causes they represent. This extension of our role of as civil servants is an opportunity to make an impact locally, nationally, and globally. Whether you care about the environment and animals, equality and welfare in our communities, healthcare and medical research, our children and education, or something else, there is a CFC charity for you, and a chance to change our world for the better. When you pledge through the CFC, you have the possibility to: • $20: fill a child’s backpack with school supplies, readying them to learn; • $75: offset 1,000 pounds of carbon in the air; • $80: construct a shelter for a refugee family; • $200: teach a mother farming techniques to feed her children and increase income. A year before President Kennedy established the CFC in 1961, he said “courage—not complacency—is our need today…” He described the historical value of building community together within our history as a Nation, “Philanthropy, charity, giving voluntarily and freely…call it what you like, but it is truly a jewel of an American tradition.” From helping neighbors build farms to responding to the impacts of devastating storms, we are there for each other. The CFC is a tool that enables this type of service and contribution to community. This year celebrates the 60th anniversary of the CFC. Over $8.5 billion has been raised by the federal community through this consequential effort. Honor the tradition of giving with us, and consider donating one-time $60 anniversary gift in addition to your recurring pledge, signing up for 60 volunteer hours, or engaging in a 60-min CFC activity. Talk to your agency’s CFC representative to learn more. Visit GiveCFC.org to join the caring community and be a changemaker today!
