《 Back to Catalogue MARKING AWARDS 2021 | 3 Introduction Initiated by FBIF (Food & Beverage Innovation Forum) in 2016, Marking Awards (MA) is a food and beverage packaging design competition based in Shanghai while targets the global. At an industry forum platform where F&B brands gather, MA was born to discover and encourage brilliant F&B packaging design, promote communication between local and global design communities, and facilitate business between F&B brands and design agencies. We emphasize both aesthetic and commercial values of packages and assess the works from comprehensive aspects. In doing so, we aim to speed up F&B brands’ packaging innovation, enhance functionality of packages, and improve aesthetics of the industry, finally leading to a creative packaging design ecosystem. Marking Awards 2020 received more than 500 works from over 200 global brand owners, design agencies, packaging suppliers and colleges. After evaluation, 41 winners were selected (visit MA official website to find more). By now, MA has received attention from World Packaging Organization, served as a bridge between brands and design agencies, and been trying every means to promote interaction between food and design. Shortlist - Greater Promotion To enable promotion for more good works, the shortlist for Marking Awards 2021 will be determined on a 1:1.5 rate. The shortlisted entrants (finalists) will not only enjoy greater amount of exposure and publicity through FBIF & MA official platforms, partner media platforms and on-site exhibition at the MAGallery, but also have a free pass worth CNY 5,800 to the three-day FBIF 2021. Interview Opportunity from FoodTalks During the competition period from November 2020 to April 2021, the early entries may have the opportunity to be interviewed by the FoodTalks Packaging column. FoodTalks is one of FBIF's affiliated websites to share the latest news and stories in the F&B industry, a frequently- visited website for Chinese F&B companies to look for suppliers. Disclosure of Scoring System Marvel at a design piece but wonder what's good about it? Come to MA 2021! The weighted scoring system is disclosed for the first time. Category Awards In this year's Marking Awards, entries are divided into two category groups: Concept Design Group and In-market Product Design Group. For In-market Group, there are four sub-categories, and combined with Concept Design, we set in total 5 Category Awards. The number of winners for each Category Award is determined according to the number and quality of works. The general winning rate is around 7%. General Awards (1) Best Design of Business Value Award The Best Design of Business Value Awards will be selected from entries in the Brand Full Case Design and Product Design categories. (only two) (2) Grand Marking Award From all entries, only one with the highest score among all the categories will be granted the Grand Marking Award of the year. * If one work has been granted a General Award, it won't be granted further Category Awards, and won't affect the number of award winners for each category, either.

We believe the final purpose of a package is to serve the product sales. Therefore, when assessing a package, besides the visual impact, we also consider other aspects (such as product type, sales and distribution channels, market performance, technology and materials, etc.) to comprehensively evaluate the performance of packages in each criterion. The weightings of criteria are different according to the category of entries. Attend the Marking Awards Ceremony + Food Show Entrants will get two attending passes to the 2021 MA Ceremony for every entry they submit. The ceremony will be held in Hangzhou,China. Cheer for the winners and celebrate together! Food Show Tour: Entrants will get three Food Show (adjacent to FBIF) Tour Tickets for every entry they submit. The 10 activity areas of Food Show 2021 include MA Global Food Design Gallery, WFA Tasting Bar, Food Ingredient Challenge and so on. 《 Back to Catalogue MARKING AWARDS 2021 | 18 Entry Fee Time Price Before Feb 11 2021 Regular USD 390 / CNY 2600 per entry Before Apr 1 2021 Last Chance USD 450 / CNY 3000 per entry * The entrant enjoys 20% discount for its application of 3 entries; 30% discount for its application of 5 entries. The price will be discounted on the total application fee in the certain period. * Packaging designs of the same product series (for instance, with different flavors) will be counted as one entry. * The above fees are the MA entry fees. If any extra fees generate, such as any merchandise or shipping cost for the shortlisted entries to participate in the offline display, or any shipment fee or custom duty for the trophies and certificates of the winning entries to be delievered to the entrant, these fees will be paid by the entrants.

All the entries must be original works from the candidate, which do not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third parties or violate any terms in related laws; 2. Any legal issues related to the entries (including but not limited to problems concerning reputation rights, copyrights, portrait rights, trademark rights, and patent rights) must be taken responsibility by candidate(s) who submit the entry. If the entry is found to have real legal concerns, FBIF committee has the right to disqualify the entry and its awards. Meanwhile, the candidate(s) has to compensate all the losses caused to the committee; 3. FBIF/Marking Awards committee has the right to promote, report and display all the entries free. 4.
