Dragons’ Den Scenario • Your audience are representatives from your Council/community who want to understand why you need their money. • You have a funding partner in the background who has been giving you advice. They will need to be convinced that you know what you are doing and what you are proposing is worth investing in. • The Dragons’ Den might have limited funding, but they do not lack compassion. They also have limited time so to make sure you do not lose their interest you will have to be crisp and to the point. 9
Presenters – Tips Remember: Decision makers have a lot to consider and not much time • provide crisp clear advice & founded recommendations • think about your body language – as it can impact their response • limit your number of key points • don’t get too fancy Summarise like Goldilocks Too much – too little – just right 10
Assessors: What’s involved You are playing the role of an influencer in your community. Decision makers’ roles involve 1. Setting the direction & testing alignment with LTP 2. Owning & leading engagement with community 3. Understanding risks 4. Ensuring the adequate provision of resources 5. Monitoring achievement of strategic direction If you support what the presentation promotes – would you be able to meet your role’s obligations? 11
