www.mha.org | (517) 323-3443 MHA Corporate Sponsorship & Advertising What We Do ADVANCING HEALTH From educational sessions and individual presentations to help hospitals implement Michigan’s opioid laws to assisting the state in creating a verification mechanism for hospital employees’ compliance with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, the MHA advanced the ongoing battle against the opioid epidemic. ACCESS TO CARE The MHA worked alongside others to preserve the federal government’s 340B Drug Discount Program, which requires drug manufacturers to provide discounted prices for outpatient drugs, allowing healthcare organizations to better care for their uninsured and low-income patients. These efforts influenced the U.S. District Court ruling that the government “must resolve the harm caused by its unlawful cuts to Medicare reimbursement” through the 340B Drug Discount Program. CORPORATE AND GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY The MHA actively weighed in on 71 bills in the Michigan Legislature during the 2018-2019 fiscal year, each of which held implications for healthcare in the state. The MHA opposed 38 bills, only five of which became law — after MHA- supported amendments were included to protect healthcare. Fourteen of the 32 bills supported by the MHA became law. In addition, several hundred letters were sent to lawmakers on hospitals’ behalf by MiCare Champions, the MHA’s network of grassroots advocates established through the 2018 #MiCareMatters image campaign. DATA AND PRICING TRANSPARENCY The MHA has continued to improve the VerifyMiCare.org website to provide the public and government with information on hospital charges and appropriate quality measures to depict the care environments of critical access hospitals. The association is also supporting the American Hospital Association’s principles on surprise billing and developed an infographic to educate stakeholders. @MIHospitalAssoc 5

To be eligible for the Circle of Honor award, your organization must contribute $15,000 in sponsorship funding. This can be accomplished through a platinum sponsorship at the MHA Annual Membership Meeting or through combined sponsorship at the MHA Annual Membership Meeting and Breakthrough. The Circle of Honor award winners are recognized each year at the MHA Annual Membership Meeting, which provides an exclusive setting and allows for recognition from MHA board members. Additionally, Circle of Honor award winners are recognized in promotional marketing communications throughout the year and on the MHA website. MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES: INVITATIONS TO CEO AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES EVENTS The evening before the MHA Breakthrough event in February, a small group of healthcare CEOs and MHA senior leaders attend a dinner and networking event to discuss challenges facing hospitals and health systems. Circle of Honor sponsors receive a special invitation to send a representative to the exclusive event, allowing them to personally speak with leaders of Michigan’s healthcare facilities. The MHA Board of Trustees meets once a year to develop the association’s strategies to fulfill membership goals.
