Awards Ceremony • Will be held every evening after Finals • Approximately 30 minutes after final team performs • Awards presented for Top 3 in each division • Plaques will be awarded to school with highest score from Prelims in each of the three categories • Expected to run appx. 30 to 45 min
Preliminary Round • Each sideline routine warmed up then performed separately in various orders: • Crowd Leading • Band Chant • Fight Song • No “organized entrances” or presets • 4:30 minutes on warm up—See Practice CHECK IN Time • Must have COACHES PASS for access to this area • All about LEADERSHIP!!
Band Chant BAND CHANT RULES AND RESTRICTIONS • 1 minute time limit • Time starts with first beat of music or organized movement • Time ends when routine ends • Recorded marching band music • Traditional sideline uniforms required • Emphasis on crowd appeal • No stunts or tumbling permitted • Jumps and kicks are allowed • Crowd-Leading tools permitted
Crowd Leading Section CROWD LEADING RULES AND RESTRICTIONS • 1 minute time limit • Time will begin with buzzer sound, similar to time out at a basketball game, then team will take the floor at the buzzer. Time ends routine ends. NO BUZZER at end. • No music permitted • No situational cue given in prelims • Emphasis on crowd involvement, leadership • Crowd-leading tools highly encouraged SKILL RESTRICTIONS • No basket, sponge or elevator tosses allowed • No inversions • No twisting dismounts from stunts • Single-leg extended stunts are limited to liberties and liberty hitches • No running tumbling • Standing tumbling is limited to ONE TUMBLING SKILL, most elite skill allowed is a standing back
Crowd Leading: • 90 Total Points • Practical use of material • Timing and Practicality of Tools • Maximum Crowd Coverage • Crowd Appeal • Convincing??
Fight Song FIGHT SONG RULES AND RESTRICTIONS • 1 minute time limit • Recorded music performed by marching band • Up to three consecutive eight counts may be incorporated with stunts, tumbling and/or jumps at any point in the routine. If repeated (does not have to be), incorporation must repeat as initially performed • 8 counts start when jumps, tumbling or top person dips to load and then continue through three 8 counts • Entire team does not have to be doing same skills at same time SKILL RESTRICTIONS (Same as Crowd Leading section) • No basket, sponge or elevator tosses allowed • No inversions • No twisting dismounts from stunts • Single-leg extended stunts are limited to liberties and liberty hitches • No running tumbling • Standing tumbling is limited to ONE TUMBLING SKILL and the most elite skill allowed is a standing back
Fight Song: • 80 Total Points • INCORPORATION RULES! • Three CONSECUTIVE 8- Counts • Ends when skills complete and back on ground OR routine ends—don’t hold and go into extended cheer at end! • ANY time in routine • Repetition Rules • Practical use of material and tools • Maximum Crowd Coverage • Crowd Appeal
Finals FINAL ROUND ROUTINE RULES AND RESTRICTIONS • Finalists (up to 20 from each division) will be determined by the total combined score from all preliminary categories, points do not carry over • 3 minute time limit • Time will begin with the first beat of band chant music • Traditional sideline uniforms are required • One continuous performance demonstrating the compilation of the Game Day elements performed in the preliminary round with the addition of an announcer-led game day situation. • Each Performance will follow this order: Band Chant, (situational element) Crowd Leading, Fight Song • Announcer to present GAME DAY situation following Band Chant NEW: DRAW for • Squad should demonstrate a STRONG understanding and FINALS ORDER adequate response to the OFFENSE or DEFENSE situation given. • The same rules from the preliminary round apply to each section of the finals routine
Deductions: • Safety Violations – 5 points • Procedure Violation – 3 points • Time Violation – varies • See State Specific GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS DOCUMENT • Will have a sheet following EACH PERFORMANCE
After Performance • Teams Exit performance area • Coaches may pick up score sheets approximately 30 minutes after performance • Score sheet pick up located in Registration area. Rooms 103 A-B • NEW THIS YEAR—in larger divisions, we will announce top 20 in a division GROUP (rotation) after the entire group has completed the three preliminary rounds.
Advancing to Finals • As Finalists are determined, announcements of finalists will be made • List of finalists and order of finals performances will also be posted on UIL website • NO EMAILS will be sent—check the website! • Use BAND app • Finalists will DRAW for the Finals Order of Performance • Team representative will draw, designated event staff will draw if no team representative present at time of drawing • Preliminary scores do not carry over to finals
Final Round • Practice Time – 7 minutes for warm up instead of 4:30 • 3 minute performance time limit • Team will be announced, take floor, get set and timing begins with first beat of band dance music or organized movement • Same rules as preliminary round apply to each section of the routine

Performance Order • Performance orders will continuously be updated and posted on the UIL website • See date stamp and review regularly • QR Code to be scanned on site
Performance Order
• One form per adult (coach) and participant • No longer include SS# • Must be turned in at on-site registration • Do not have to be notarized • Any adult can serve as “witness”
Music Reminders • Mp3 digital format preferred. CDs allowed. BRING BACK UP! • Coach or Team Rep will press play Proof of Proper Licensing for Use • No FORM to turn in, will just SHOW at check-in • If your school OWNS the rights to your music, all you need is letter of permission from principal • If your school does not OWN the rights to the song, you must have permission for use or purchase from approved provider

Music Usage Varsity Spirit Camp music is properly licensed, CAN be used Music purchased from iTunes, Amazon or approved provider is perfect—show proof of purchase (receipt) Streaming sites (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube) NOT ALLOWED USING YOUR BAND: The purchase of SHEET MUSIC grants a band the right to perform LIVE, it does not grant permission to RECORD or DISTRUBE. • SOLUTIONS—permission for use from owner of rights; compulsory license purchase

Spectator Fees Adult Day Ticket $15 Student Day Ticket $10 All Session Ticket $45 TGCA Membership Session Ticket* $40 *Discounted ticket with membership card from Texas Girls Coaches Association NOTE: TICKET SALES ARE CASH ONLY. ATMS are available ON SITE.
Upon Arrival • Registration at Ft Worth Convention Center (Room 103 B) • 11th Street entrance off of Houston Street • Coaches Only in Registration • Coaches can check-in ‘day of’ or prior (if competing Sat/Sun) • Registration must be complete before first practice time • Recommend checking in at least an hour prior to first warm up • Registration will open every day at 7:00 am • Teams competing on Friday and Saturday can check in day before • Turn in release forms, music forms and pick up Coaches and athlete credentials • Practice Time Check-In • Time listed on far right of Performance Order
School Vehicle/ Bus Parking • If staying Downtown, check with hotel about possible bus parking at the downtown Baptist Church • All other bus parking will be at Herman Clark Stadium • See maps and info in Coaches Packet • Shuttles (for drivers) will run back and forth between bus parking and Convention Center. Bus drivers should drop athletes off BEFORE parking bus. • Herman Clark is for BUSES/SCHOOL VEHICLES only—no parent parking
Team Meetings • Please DO NOT meet/camp in foyer or walkway • Teams should be in warm up area only during assigned times • There is not a designated team “holding area”. Please utilize upper seating areas of ARENA or designated ballroom space on third floor.
Other • All tickets sold on site (no pre-sales)—make sure spectators allow time to purchase tickets! • CASH ONLY • Programs will be available for purchase in merchandise area and at tickets sales counter • Merchandise available including EVENT SPECIFIC T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and pins—Come early! There is not a pre-order option for merchandise. • PHOTOS available for ordering
Concessions And Meal Planning • Outside food and drink WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. • No deliveries to site • Concessions and advanced meals orders are available on site • Numerous restaurant options in area • PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY and educate parents and all attending with team
