W e lco m e This year marks Phyllis Tuckwell’s 40th anniversary, and returning for its second year is our Open Gardens event! Surrey and Hampshire hold some of the most beautiful gardens in the country, and once again generous private garden owners are swinging open their gates to welcome and inspire visitors whilst supporting Hospice Care in our community. Last year our Open Gardens event raised just over £15,000, all of which went directly towards funding the care which we provide for local patients and relatives who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. As the NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, we have to raise over £20,000 a day to provide our care, which is given free of charge to our patients and their families. We are very grateful to the garden owners who are supporting us this year and we have a real variety of individual gardens for you to visit. They vary greatly in size and design, and many include enviable organic fruit and vegetable patches! If you’re feeling inspired by the garden designs you see, you’ll be able to get creative yourself, as some of the gardens will also have plants for sale, with all proceeds going to Phyllis Tuckwell. We are delighted to be partnering with Squire’s Garden Centres for our 2019 Open Gardens. Offering a wide range of quality plants and garden products, together with an extensive selection of garden furniture, houseplants and gifts, we are fortunate to have four of their centres locally in Frensham, Badshot Lea, Milford and West Horsley. If you have an ever-growing list of things to buy for your garden this year, why not head to one of their garden centres? We’ve included some exclusive vouchers on the back of this brochure for you to spend there too, so don’t forget to cut them out and take them with you! This brochure provides details of all the gardens featured in our 2019 Open Gardens event. If you would be interested in opening your own garden for Phyllis Tuckwell, please call us on 01252 729456. We’d love to hear from you. Thank you Charli Quay-Barnham Community Fundraising Manager 2 3
