Cosford airfield is fairly small and has retained the character of an old RAF base. Today it’s home to the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering as well as a branch of the RAF Museum. As such the site is full of former RAF equipment for trading the ground trades of the armed forces as well as the collection from the RAF Museum. The 2019 show will mark the 70th Anniversary of NATO and Women in Defence. Sat 03 Festival of Quilts at the NEC £40.00 The Festival of Quilts is Europe’s leading patchwork and quilting event attracting 24,000 quilters from all over the world. The show is a celebration of quilting in all its forms, with over 300 exhibitors offering essential supplies, professionally curated galleries of quilts from leading international makers, 350 workshops, talks and demos plus a magnificent display of over 700 competition quilts. It is the ultimate patchwork and quilting experience. Also appearing at the show is Jenny Doan, Missouri Star Quilt Company . Jenny Doan has been called ‘The most famous quilter in the world’ with her Youtube tutorials being viewed more than 110 million times. Jenny will be giving a two hour ‘trunk show’ with humour, laughter and even a few tears. Jenny will share her story, which includes how she got started in quilting, how MSQC came to be and how this quilting phenomenon has impacted her life. Taste Wartime rations, tea, together with spam sandwiches, from the NAAFI at Weybourne. A Cup of Char’ and a Wad’ from the Intitute tearooms at Holt, See Jitterbug dancers, re- enactment groups, a collection of 1940s vehicles and veteran and vintage bicycles. Fri 20 Cromer ‘Best of’ Summer Show £40.00 The ‘Best of’ Show pieces together all of your favourite bits from both Shows 1 and 2 to bring you the ultimate finale to the summer season. Following the Service of Remembrance, a historic de Havilland Dragon Rapide aircraft will fly alongside the AirSpace exhibition building and scatter poppy petals in a poignant tribute to the men and women who served at RAF Duxford (weather permitting).
