Agrichemicals are a valuable management tool that must be used safely
and responsibly. To help users obtain the best results, The Golden Rules
of Agrichemical Use have been developed as a guide by the New Zealand
Agrichemical Education Trust (NZAET).

ONE STUDY THE AGRICHEMICAL USERS’
CODE OF PRACTICE AND READ THE
CONTAINER LABEL
Users should seek training in safe and responsible
agrichemical use, and follow the guidelines set out
in the Code of Practice developed by the NZAET.
Make sure you know what you are using and never
leave it to chance.
TWO KNOW WHY YOU ARE USING
AGRICHEMICALS
Always consider the alternatives before using
agrichemicals and know why a particular
agrichemical is necessary.
THREE APPLY AGRICHEMICALS AS DIRECTED
USING CALIBRATED EQUIPMENT
Accuracy in measurement and use is essential
to gain the best results.
KEEP AGRICHEMICALS UNDER
FOUR LOCK AND KEY
Agrichemicals should be stored in a secure, well
ventilated, child and animal-proof place. Signage
on cupboard and HAZCHEM 2WE on outside of
building and a “No Smoking” sign.
RECORDS MUST BE KEPT
FIVE Material Safety Data Sheet (M.S.D.S.) should be
supplied by your supplier for all products. Tracking
records should be kept for tracked substances only.SIX USE THE APPROPRIATE PROTECTIVE
