This disclosure refers to and should be read in conjunction with QBE’s annual reporting suite, particularly the 2018 Sustainability Report (refer to the Appendix for a copy of Sustainability Report). The Principles for Sustainable Insurance are a framework for the global insurance industry to address environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities. QBE became a signatory to the PSI in December 2015, and they are an important contributor to the approach we take to embed sustainability issues into our decision-making. Principle 1 We will embed in our decision-making environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues relevant to our insurance business. QBE’s 2018 Sustainability Report (the Report) provides an overview of our approach to sustainability, including our sustainability framework, governance and management, ongoing stakeholder engagement, memberships and industry collaboration, materiality, and our role in helping achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A focus on sustainability is essential to our ability to deliver on our purpose, and our work in this area is underpinned by a refreshed Sustainability Framework described on the following page. This Framework will assist us to further integrate sustainability across our international business and our decision-making processes. 2
