OUR CREDENTIALS FROM In September 2018, The Weekend Australian Magazine turns 30. That’s three decades and roughly 9000 features, investigations THE and profiles that tell the story of Australia through the issues, EDITOR events and people that make up this great country. Every year we feature interviews with prime ministers and politicians, artists, actors, business leaders, change-makers and agenda-setters. You can almost map the fashion, food and social trends of this country through the pages of the magazine over the course of its existence. We are a truly national magazine; our staff and photographers journey deep into rainforests and the red centre, up to the treetops and down to the sea bed to bring our readers a unique view of this wide brown land. We are fearless in our investigations but open-hearted in our approach. There are incredible people doing amazing things in this country and we take delight in telling their stories – in print, through our digital and social channels and with podcasts. Many things have changed since this magazine was launched, but the very human hunger for stories that explain our world and the people in it is undiminished. Our history is built on storytelling - and that is our future too. CHRISTINE MIDDAP Editor, The Weekend Australian Magazine 2018 MEDIA KIT | 02

British wine writer Jancis Robinson has described Halliday as the protégé of Len Evans and “Australia’s leading wine writer”. JOHN LETHLEAN | Australia’s only national restaurant reviewer, John travels the country dining at our best new restaurants. Describing himself as an “innocent food writer at The Australian, collector of restaurant gossip, reviewer of tables, spotter of errant apostrophes and author of occasional amusing typos”, John has long been a landmark in the industry and a fiercely independent voice among food writers. NIKKI GEMMELL | Nikki’s novels include Shiver, Cleave (Alice Springs in the US), Lovesong, The Book of Rapture, The Bride Stripped Bare and its follow-up, With My Body. She has also written two works of non-fiction: Pleasure: An Almanac for the Heart, and Why You Are Australian. Her work has been critically acclaimed internationally and translated into many languages.
