Healthy Eating

Pro riders pick up a special bag of food and drinks called a
musette during the race. The bags contain healthy items to give
the bikers water, carbs, and protein. Carbs come from foods like
fruit, carrots, and crackers, while protein comes from things like
peanut butter, nuts, yogurt, and
milk. These nutrients are extra
important fuel from food and
drinks that keeps our muscles
working. This way, the riders
have energy to ride as fast as
they can without bonking!

Choose Water over Sugary Drinks!
Sugar is added to many foods and drinks to make them taste
sweeter. Added sugars can be a problem in our diets because
consuming too many of them is harmful to our health. To keep
your body hydrated without getting too much sugar, choose
water! Water has no sugar in it. Water helps to keep your body
cool, moves nutrients throughout your body, and helps your
body to get rid of things that it does not need.

Put the following drinks in order according to
   how much sugar they contain.

if you are playing sports for more than 1 hour. Chocolate milk can
also be helpful to refuel your body after you have been playing
sports or exercising hard for more than 1 hour. Otherwise, water is
the best drink to keep your body healthy!
