Other COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates in the Pipeline

    ▪ Johnson & Johnson
         ▪ Johnson & Johnson is testing a vaccine known as JNJ-78436735 or Ad26.COV2.S. Results from a clinical
trial are expected in January 2021. Of the leading vaccine candidates, this is the easiest to distribute,
requiring just one dose and standard refrigeration.

         ▪ Update: Johnson & Johnson filed an application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for
an emergency use authorization (EUA) for its COVID-19 vaccine. Last week the company announced
that its phase 3 clinical trials included nearly 44,000 people, and its single-dose vaccine was shown to
be 66% percent effective at preventing moderate to severe illness and 85% effective against severe
coronavirus illness. The trials revealed no significant side effects from the vaccinations.

         ▪ An independent FDA panel will now review the data from J&J’s clinical trials and hold a public meeting
on February 26 to discuss whether to grant the authorization.

         ▪ If the FDA grants the EUA, an advisory panel for CDC would then meet publicly to recommend how the
vaccine should be used. If the J&J vaccine is authorized, it would join vaccines produced by Pfizer-
BioNTech and Moderna-NIH, which are already being used to vaccinate millions of Americans.

Other COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates in the Pipeline

     ▪ Johnson & Johnson
          ▪ This J&J vaccine differs from the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines in
that it calls for only one shot and can be stored in a conventional
refrigerator as opposed to the two shots and colder storage temperatures
that the other vaccines require. Both of those vaccines were shown to be
              about 95 percent effective.
          ▪ J&J officials said they would be ready to ship their vaccine as soon as EUA is
granted approved and is expected to supply 100 million doses to the U.S.
              by June.

Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19
     Vaccination

     ▪ As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to increase access to COVID-19
vaccines, starting on February 11, those eligible for the vaccine will have the
opportunity to be vaccinated at select pharmacies across the country.

     ▪ This program is a public-private partnership with 21 national pharmacy
partners and networks of independent pharmacies representing over 40,000
         pharmacy locations nationwide.

     ▪ It is a key component of the Administration’s National Strategy to expand
equitable access to vaccines for the American public.

     ▪ As the first phase of this program launches, select retail pharmacies nationwide
will receive limited vaccine supply to vaccinate priority groups at no cost.

American Pharmacists Association
APhA: Ready, Willing and Able to Vaccinate

“Pharmacy is ready, willing and able to expand its responsibility to vaccinate
the communities we serve when the federal program is activated on
February 11, 2021. We applaud the Biden administration’s efforts to
work towards an adequate and predictable supply of vaccine. It will
ultimately allow pharmacists to meet vaccination needs that will result in
enhanced confidence and protection against COVID-19 and its adverse
consequences. To successfully meet the president’s equity and access
goals, multiple strategies will be necessary to reach all communities
and all at-risk populations, utilizing community pharmacies of all
kinds. We appreciate the Administration’s recognition of the value and role
that pharmacists and members of the pharmacy team play across all of
                             these strategies to be utilized.”
