14:30 - 15:00 Aviation BioFuels Keynote FUEL Despite not hitting the headlines in recent years, aviation biofuel and alternative fuel programs are progressing in development. This presentation outlines the current ongoing programs, what bioFuels are being developed along with recent test results and when can we expect to see airlines actually flying with alternative fuel. Peter Hind, Managing Director, RDC Aviation 15:00 - 16:00 REFRESHMENT BREAK & SOFTAWARE DEMOS - EXHIBITION HALL – Sponsored by NAVBLUE 16:00 - 16:30 Latest Innovations - Pilot Controlled Towing Taxi INNOVATION IAI provides an update on its TaxiBot aircraft taxiing solution, that allows taxiing without engines running using a semi-robotic, pilot-controlled ground tug vehicle. Aircraft engines are started shortly before take-off FUEL while allowing the required warm-up time. Pilots are in control after push back, using the steering tiller and brake pedals of the aircraft. The Taxibot provides the same handling characteristics as if taxiing with engines running, and no modification to the aircraft is required. It has recently been EASA and CAAI certified for the Boeing 737 NG aircraft. The TaxiBot has been in use by Lufthansa in its commercial flights with passengers at Frankfurt Airport since November 2014. Eran Tamir, Business Development, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) 16:30 - 17:00 Latest Innovations - Conformal Vortex Generator Fuel Efficiency Modification Edge Aerodynamix provide us with an update on their Conformal Vortex Generator (CVG) made from INNOVATION elastomeric adhesive backed film. The film is applied to the leading edge slat on the wing and restructures the FUEL flow of air over the wing, creating a highly stable layer of vortices that increase the amount of attached flow. As a result, the CVG reduces the amount of drag the aircraft experiences leading to better aircraft performance, significant fuel savings and reduction in carbon emissions. The presentation focuses on key tests on a B737 and the recently completed FAA certification - you will also learn about future developments such as tests beginning on an A340-600. Capt.
