Business and employment impact 11
Reliably predicting the specifics of the “new normal” at this stage is simply impossible. Our base case is that it will take 12 to 18 months for management teams to assess the retention of long-standing business assumptions and to develop new assumptions that underpin revised strategies. • Breathe deeply, it is going to hurt: Cut earnings expectations and be conservative • Play defensively in the face of uncertainty: Prefer the organisations which have more defensive approach • Manage significant trade-offs: Under Covid-19 – shareholders, management, employees, clients, suppliers
Breaking condonation and clarifying C-19 standards At work and outside of the workplace The purpose of this correspondence is to record the employer’s standards of conduct required in respect of COVID-19 and related matters. In giving effect to its obligation to protect the health and safety of its employees, workers and visitors, the employer’s position is that of zero tolerance in respect of individuals that breach the standards of conduct required in general. Specifically, we draw your attention to the fact that these standards and/ or the principles attached to them apply both: ❑ Within the workplace and work-related activities (refer to the examples listed to the right); and ❑ Outside of the above context, where you breach law and/ or acceptable standards outside of the workplace resulting in actual or potential harm to those at the workplace. The employer stresses that in the event these standards have not been enforced in accordance with the gravity required or have not been enforced consistently to date, with effect from Monday, 13 July 2020 these provisions will be enforced to their full extent. Please contact __________ should you have any queries.

No movement on the portal ❑ No payments made since 30 June 2020, except in cases where employees opted “pay to employee” ❑ Additional security measures due to fraud ❑ Verification against CK numbers – awaiting confirmation on how this is being done given that system doesn’t have this info captured ❑ PAYE reference numbers – was optional field, recommend putting this in as they have been cross-referencing/verifying against SARS to attempt to release “undeclared” individuals ❑ Bank details being verified beyond simply account number/branch code – looking at “account owner” ❑ Some issues reported with June application data “reflecting” on the portal despite numerous uploads – specifically CSV file imports and those who opted to “repeat” previous month’s application ❑ System only “runs” every 2 – 3 days so likely reason for delay ❑ Manual uploads reflect immediately. We hope that DEL will be able to “run” the system over the weekend and make payments for May at least
