! DEEP HOUSE SKI YOGA RETREAT INFO PACK 15-22 February 2018 www.chaletrosiere.fr/mountain-retreats ! 1!
! AN INTRODUCTION FROM YOUR HOST Yoga, skiing and snowboarding are increasingly paired together for their complimentary effects on body and mind. Yogic mindfulness enhances both the novice and the expert’s snow sport experience, heightening awareness and reducing the risk of injury. Yoga works on the body to ease out tension, and breathing exercises are invaluable for adjusting the body to the thinner air and reduced oxygen at altitude. Join us on this Deep House Ski Yoga Retreat in February 2018 if you’re in need of an adventure. We’ll be celebrating our bodies and the mountains with morning and evening yoga set to killer beats, with exhilarating days of skiing or snowboarding spent on glittering snowy slopes. Kelly Brooks will teach yoga and meditation on this retreat. Kelly, who teaches at Soho House and other London locations, has developed her own unique style with music at its core. She has a particularly intuitive style of teaching. Whether you are looking for fitness or recovery, Kelly will lovingly curate the experience that you are seeking. Morning yoga will focus on warming up the body in preparation for skiing and snowboarding, in order to improve strength and balance and to protect against injury. Evening sessions will introduce deep stretches with a strong focus on breathing to reduce tension and soreness, and to release the adrenaline that builds up from a day on the slopes. Throughout the course of the week Kelly will teach us the components of a beautiful sequence that will be put together at the end of the week in a seamless 90 minute Deep House flow. A 60-minute treatment with our holistic therapy expert is included in the price of this experience. You will be able to choose from Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Neal’s Yard Natural Facials, Reflexology and Craniosacral Therapy. ! 2!
! We’ll be serving a daily menu of delicious, detoxifying, protein-rich vegan meals using fresh local produce. This is an alcohol-free, detoxifying experience. Downtime will be spent in our meditation tipi, watching sunset over snow- capped mountains from our outdoor Jacuzzi, exploring our extensive library in front of a roaring fire, or simply catching up on some much needed R & R. This retreat is suitable for all levels of both skiing and yoga. I hope you’ll join us on this Deep House Ski Yoga Retreat. Wild regards, Alex Volkers, Chalet Rosière. ! 3!

! YOGA TEACHER BIO KELLY BROOKS Kelly Brooks is a talented London based yoga teacher who teaches privately and at Soho House. Kelly also teaches yoga for corporates at Harrods and Google. She understands better than most the power that yoga can have to help busy people let go of stress. Her ‘bending to the beat’ yoga classes are ridiculously fun and completely keyed into the wellbeing zeitgeist. Set to Deep House music, Kelly chooses her beats to synchronize seamlessly with breath and movement. The result is a deliciously funky experience and a mind, body and soul reset, without the reverence of more serious yoga disciplines. This is yoga at its best, approachable, fun and enlivening. ! 7!
! Kelly Brooks teaches a mix of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow yoga with a strong focus on alignment because of her background in Iyengar. In our opinion this is the ideal blend for Ski Yoga practice as it achieves the necessary balance between alignment, flexibility and strength. Kelly’s classes are designed to build strength while relaxing the mind and reviving the body. You won’t need to Om or chant in Kelly’s classes on this Deep House Ski Yoga retreat. Just be open to trying something new, improving your fitness and getting a groove on. ! 8!

! Philip Volkers, Co-Host of Chalet Rosière, is a professional photographer. You can see examples of his work at www.philipvolkers.com. Philip will sometime be available to take photos of Chalet Rosière retreats. He takes beautiful photographs in an unobtrusive manner, which we use on social media and for promotional purposes. Please inform us by email if you do not wish to be photographed. Unless you email us expressing a desire not to be photographed, by staying at Chalet Rosière you are giving your permission (and the permission of those others who you are booking for) for photographs of you taken during your stay to be used by Chalet Rosière. STRICT VEGANS The catering and natural toiletries provided by Chalet Rosière will be vegan. However, Chalet Rosière is not a 100% vegan chalet. We have antlers on the chalet (belonging to the owners). We also have down bedding and wollen blanets in all our rooms, but can provide synthetic bedding (with advance warning) if you are a strict vegan. If you are a strict vegan, please inform us at the time of booking so that we can discuss the suitability of this experience with you. EXTREME ALLERGIES We are very experienced at catering for a wide range of dietary requirements. Please inform us of any requirements on the Booking Form provided, or at the very latest two weeks before your arrival. However, where a food allergy is so severe that the slightest exposure to the substance in question could cause a life-threatening reaction (for example where a reaction may be triggered other than by actually eating the foodstuff - such as by smell alone, or by minute trace elements on the hands of a staff member or ! 13!
! another person), you must advise us in writing of the severe nature of the allergy before booking. We then reserve the right to advise you that, in our considered view, the controls we are able to implement in the ski chalet environment are insufficient to guarantee your safety, in which case, should you choose to proceed with the booking, you do so entirely at your own risk, and would be asked to confirm this in writing in order to confirm the booking. If you fail to advise us of a known extreme allergy at the point of booking, you will be in breach of the terms of your booking, and we will therefore have no liability to you at all in the event of any incident. TAKING PART While we do accept bookings from couples and friends on all of our retreats, we would like to underline that this is a collaborative group experience, with a lot of solo-travellers attending. If you are looking for a friends’ holiday, or a ‘shared ski chalet’ type of experience, where there is no need to bond with the other occupants in the chalet, this is not for you. A retreat is always a journey and it is important that we support each other through this process. Please come with an open heart, ready to share both the space and your energy with your fellow retreat participants. Please do feel free to take a rest day at the chalet whenever you that you need one. While there is no provision for guests not skiing during the days, you will be able to purchase a packed lunch in the morning, and spend the day relaxing in one of our many quiet, cosy spaces. HEALTH + SAFETY POLICY ! 14!
! All guests must have travel insurance with medical cover covering all activities to be enjoyed at or nearby Chalet Rosière, including (but not limited to) ski/snowboard, yoga and snowshoeing/hiking. Guests must provide proof of travel insurance on request. Chalet Rosière accepts no liability for injury or damage to people or property as a result of a stay at Chalet Rosière, other than as obliged to by law. This includes all activities and occurrences associated with the Chalet, with transport to the Chalet, with activities in the local area. You will be taking part in yoga and skiing or snowboarding at your own risk. If you require additional guidance to be safe on the mountain it is your responsibility to seek instruction, however we will happily arrange this for you. GUIDING Please be aware that neither Alex nor Philip Volkers (your Hosts) are qualified ski guides. In fact, Alex is just a beginner snowboarder! If you would like to book ski/snowboard lessons or a ski guide this can be done via Chalet Rosière or directly with the service provider. We would be happy to assist you through the process, and answer any questions you might have. Should Alex and/or Philip Volkers or any other Chalet Rosière representative ski with those members of the retreat group who choose not to book ski/snowboard lessons or a guide, it will not be in a guiding capacity. If skiing with the group, they will not be able to advise on technique or whether the slopes in question are appropriate for you. You must know your level, or seek instruction for a qualified instructor or guide. Always follow your intuition and stay within your comfort zone. WARNING When skiing/snowboarding, if you feel tired, stop for the day to avoid injury. ! 15!
