RMIT BUNDOORA WELCOME TO CAITLIN AGRA RUSU Bundoora Coordinator Hello and welcome to Bundoora RMIT 2019! Here at RUSU, we know that the first year of university can be a little daunting, so we wanted to put together an orientation guide book for you to help in navigating these first few weeks as a new student. The Bundoora campus has many wonderful services to offer. The weekly Chill n Grills are a great place to chill and relax, make new friends, and find out about volunteering or getting involved. We also have a range of clubs and societies who are always on the look-out for new members. Over the next few weeks there will be lots of opportunities to participate in RUSU games and activities, so be on the look-out for posters and flyers across campus advertising upcoming events! Feel free to come and speak to any of your friendly RUSU reps any time of the week. We are always happy to have a chat or answer any questions you might have. COMPASS Compass is a welfare drop-in space where students can go TALK TO? WHO TO DON’T KNOW for information, referrals and advice about any issue they may be experiencing. Compass is staffed by highly trained student volunteers who provide ‘peer to peer’ support and there is always a qualified RUSU staff member on site to assist. Compass can refer to onsite support services as well as services within the community. We also offer the well-stocked Compass Cupboard which has food items and other essentials that you can pick up when the bank account is empty, and your tummy is rumbling. Compass also provides outreach events and activities such as Stress Less Week, Yoga, and Compass Market Place – so keep your eyes peeled throughout the semester! SAFE SPACES The Student Union’s Queer and Women’s departments maintain ‘safe spaces’ on campus. The queer lounges and women’s rooms are designed to be spaces where students can relax, be themselves and meet new people in a supportive and friendly environment.
