REGISTRATION BEGINS OCTOBER 25 - $305/UNIT W inter Intersession provides an excellent opportunity to pursue one class intensively, without interruptions and demands of other classes or campus activities. Beginning November 19, additional registrations will be accepted until classes earn resident credit and are open to matriculated December 20. Topic Course Descriptions ANTH 169T Introduction to Forensic Anthropology (3 units) This course will examine and assess the use of anthropological data and concepts from forensic anthropology to address contemporary is- sues in the law, and the medicolegal environment. Students will work on applied problems, make informed observations, read reports, and research documents geared towards professionals, and service providers in the field of forensic anthropology, medicolegal investigation and human rights. Students will analyze human skeletal materials using skeletal biology and forensic anthropology methods to estimate sex, age, ancestry and stature, as well as traumatic and pathological changes to bone. This topic may not be repeated for credit. COUN 280T MFT Business Practices (1 unit) MFT students learn many skills about how to provide therapy to clients, but some programs do not address the “business practices” compo- nent of the profession. This course will help students grapple with some of the issues related to private practice and other business arrange- ments in the MFT field. Specific learning objectives include: Learning how to ethically bill insurance, establishing various kinds of individual and group practices, creating a business plan, and developing a website for your future practice. CRIM 136T Reimagining Realignment (1 unit) This course is designed to promote analysis and discussion of the current issues surrounding criminal justice reform with a particular em- phasis on the process of reentry and the impact of collateral consequences of incarceration. The course will explore recent criminological literature that assesses the challenges of reentry and proposes new ways forward. IT 191T Autonomous Control for Automated Systems (3 units) This course covers the basics of Internet of Things IoT and cloud computing technology and their applications in business, environmental, and agricultural industry. Students will primarily learn about devices, functions, protocols and concepts such as data models, big data, cloud computing and smart automation technology. ME 191T Internal Combustion Engines (3 units) Review of Air standard cycles. Diesel and Gasoline combustion overview. Combustion spark ignition engines and compression ignition engines. Mixture preparation (carburetion & fuel injection). Fuels and chemistry of combustion reactions. Octane and Cetane ratings. Over- view of exhaust emissions. Combustion chamber design. Turbocharging and supercharging, volumetric efficiency and valve timing. This topic may not be repeated for credit. PSYCH 120T Neuroscience of Mental Disorders (4 units) PSYCH 36 or 125 and PSYCH 66 are recommended. Examination of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, addiction, and autism from an integrative perspective, with an emphasis on their underlying neurobiology. 9
