Winter in the Stars: What does astrology say the season holds for us? This year on December 21, 2020, the Sun enters Capricorn and winter begins with a bang. Tough guy Mars squaring off with the great destroyer Pluto sends an ugly signal highlighting strength, power, greed and obsession. Pluto can transform, but he often does it with a wrecking ball. At this Solstice, Jupiter and Saturn form their all-important conjunction. For centuries, this Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, often referred to as the Great Conjunction or Great Chronocrator, has been a reliable indicator of economic, social and political trends. This 20-year cycle is a cycle within a cycle. For approximately 200 years, the conjunction between these planets occurs in the same element, Earth, Air, Water or Fire. When this cycle changes elements, it is called the Great Mutation. For the past 200 years, these Great Conjunctions have occurred in the element of Earth. The Earth emphasis is on the material: property, the production of goods and physical boundaries. At the solstice, when they meet again, it will be in the Air sign Aquarius. The change of elements from Earth to Air heralds a huge societal shift. We may not see what it means when it happens, but change is in store. The element of Air, and especially Aquarius, places emphasis on the collective, collaborative efforts, ancient wisdom. Personhood replaces Brotherhood. Science and abstract ideas float through the atmosphere. The Full Moon on December 29, 2020, has Venus tangled up with Neptune creating an alluring illusion. Escapism leads the parade, bringing fun stuff and viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, especially in the areas of love and money. If you are not in church on your knees or searching for the Holy Grail, Neptune will lead you down the primrose path. Beware of drugs and alcohol; they’ll sneak up on you during this time. Our feet are on the ground at the New Moon of January 13, 2021, with Sun, Moon, Venus and Pluto all
in Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn prefers careful money management. In love, Venus here is slow to start romantically, but in the long run can bring a lasting relationship. The First Quarter Moon on January 20, 2021, falls on Inauguration Day. Mars is up to no good. He joins forces with Uranus. Uranus is the great awakener, the big game changer. These two together can signal violence, upsets and explosive action; volcanic and earthquaky types of things. It’s not pretty. Looking at things differently, Uranus rules the latest technology while Mars rules fevers, inflammation, and the old timey ague. A scientific breakthrough is possible. No matter how you shake it, look for the unusual on this Inauguration Day The Full Moon on January 28, 2021, tells us we are not out of the woods yet. The death rate, finances and debt dominate the news cycle. Venus with Pluto warns us not to become obsessed. Know when to let go. The New Moon on February 11, 2021, continues the emphasis on debt, finance, etc. At this time, fickle Venus has moved along into Aquarius and now snuggles up to Jupiter. Venus in Aquarius wants to be friends, first and foremost. Before, during and after any love affair or romance, she wants to be and to remain friends. Hanging out with Jupiter she has no problem spending money. Whether she has it or not. Spend, spend, spend. We may find Congress doing the same. After all that spending the “Budget” rears its pesky little head when the February 27, 2021, Full Moon rolls around. Venus has wandered off into Pisces where she doesn’t care about money or art, she’s looking for her soul mate and she’s sure she found him. Someone needs to open her eyes. Mars is now making nice-nice with Pluto, so perhaps some of those tough money, tax and insurance issues can be resolved. A new attitude prevails at the New Moon on March 13, 2021. The emphasis on Pisces prompts us to charity, spirituality and oh yes, escapism. Be very careful with news and information, check the sources, read and listen to all viewpoints. It is easy to get bamboozled with the energy that is around during this period. Public opinion ricochets from one point of view to another. Traffic, transportation and students add to the noise. Do your research. The Winter Solstice chart indicates a time of finishing up, carrying out some final tasks before being able to move forward. Often, when we move from one phase to another, the road gets a bit bumpy. Stand your ground with an open heart.
Trump Eclipsed: Strange happenings in the sky when the electoral votes are certified All will agree that this 2020 election is one for the books. And it is not over yet. For all of us, it has been a lesson in civics. Although the media usually calls the election on election night, it is not official until the states certify that election. States have different dates by which they have to certify according to the laws of that state. Most states have to certify by mid to late November. California has until December 11. Then the Electoral College votes. The Electoral College meets on the “first Monday after the second Wednesday in December.” This year that is December 14. Then on January 6, Congress meets in joint session where the President of the Senate opens and certifies the electoral votes.
There is a Lunar Eclipse on November 30 and a Solar Eclipse on December 14. These are significant dates in the process and they impact the natal chart of Donald Trump. In astrology, eclipses are strong indicators of change. The degree of any particular eclipse reacts to planetary transits to that degree. In essence, eclipse degrees remain “hot” for months, and even years. Donald Trump was born at a Lunar Eclipse. That eclipse occurred at 23 degrees across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. This is a “hot” degree for Trump. As you delve deeper into astrological lore, the pre-natal eclipse, the closest eclipse that occurs before you were born, can play a significant role in the individual’s life. That degree remains “hot” throughout the individual’s life. Donald Trump’s pre-natal Solar Eclipse occurred a few weeks before he was born at 8 degrees Gemini. On November 30, 2020, around the time when most states have certified their election, there is a Lunar Eclipse at 8 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius. This is the degree of Trump’s prenatal eclipse. In addition, the big three — Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn — are stirring up the pot, opposing Trump’s Venus and Saturn. Pluto in particular is in very close opposition to Trump’s Saturn. Saturn is about structure; form and one’s standing in society. Pluto brings into play the issues of power and control. Pluto can bring you to great heights and to great depths. On December 14, 2020, when the Electoral College meets, there is a Solar Eclipse at 23 degrees of Sagittarius. This eclipse degree is the degree of the Lunar Eclipse at Trump’s birth. At this time, Pluto has only moved minutes from its position a few weeks before. So not much has changed. The weeks between the Electoral College vote and the Joint Session of Congress are cosmically busy. The Winter Solstice, the celestial marker of the new year, occurs. At this solstice, the 20-year cycle of Saturn and Jupiter begins anew. For centuries, this Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, often referred to as the Great Conjunction or Great Chronocrator, has been a reliable indicator of economic, social and political trends. This 20-year cycle is a cycle within a cycle. For approximately 200 years the conjunction between these planets occurs in the same element, Earth, Air, Water or Fire. When this cycle changes elements, it is called the Great Mutation. For the past 200 years these Great Conjunctions have occurred in the element of Earth. The Earth emphasis is on the material. Property, the production of goods and physical boundaries. At the solstice, when they meet again, it will be in the Air sign Aquarius. The change of elements from Earth to Air heralds a huge societal shift. A conjunction is a seed planted. We may not see what it means when it happens, but change is in store. The element of Air and
especially Aquarius places emphasis on the collective, collaborative efforts, ancient wisdom. Personhood replaces Brotherhood. Science and abstract ideas float through the atmosphere. Change in element signifies a change in leadership. Here we are focused on the Presidential election, but this change in leadership extends throughout society. As our ideals shift, so will our choices change as we seek different types of leaders (keep your eye on 2024). For Trump, at this Grand Conjunction, Pluto has still not left the building. Pluto is persistent and will continue to knock on your door until you answer. Here he is knocking on Trump’s Saturn. Saturn says walk the straight and narrow, conform, follow the rules and obey the law. When Pluto and Saturn are together, the path is not easy. The final reckoning comes when Congress finally meets in Joint Session on January 6, 2021. The slower moving planets are still exerting pressure and stress on Trump’s natal planets. Mars, the planet of action, makes a very sweet and positive connection to Trump’s Ascendant. Mars is a driving force. Here Mars is at the very last degree, indeed the last minutes of Aries. While this is a “good” aspect, a planet in the final degree of a sign is considered weak and signifies the end of a cycle. The session opens at 1pm. Saturn in the sky at that moment is given pride of place. Sitting high in the sky, posited at home base, the 10th house, Saturn has all the “dignity.” What this means is Saturn has all the power, the strongest energy exerted. The Saturn traditions of order, structure and tradition hold sway. Up there with him is the planet Mercury, in no-nonsense Capricorn. Mercury, in the sign that Saturn rules, is the vote. This position reinforces the Saturnian principles. The Moon, ruling the public, is in Libra. Libra is the sign of balance and negotiation and is the peacemaker. In a combative stance with Mercury, Moon in Libra pushes for fairness and justice. Trump, with his natal Mars on the Ascendant, is a fighter and he will fight to the bitter end. As Trump is also a man full of surprises, expect some behind-the-scenes shenanigans in order to influence the outcome. Nancy Pelosi, an Aries with a Scorpio Moon, will have something to say about that. With the strength of Saturn throughout the proceedings, it’s a safe bet that when all is said and done, tradition wins. Lunar Notes November will prove to be a busy month with some planets changing direction while others are joining forces, creating pockets of energy that will have an impact on the course of events. When Mercury
moves from retrograde to direct motion on Election Day, be prepared for information to emerge that corrects any misconceptions. Expect action mid-month when Mars goes direct and Jupiter bonds with Pluto. Politics, public health and shifting tides alter our opinions. Hang on tight! Aries: Your feelings of being held back and boxed in dissipate mid-month when your ruler, Mars, turns direct. The New Moon on the 15th may send some money your way. Relationships require you to be assertive but diplomatic. Someone crosses your radar that sparks your interest. With careful planning, you can expand your horizons. Taurus: Relationships improve with co-workers and the more personal type. You have been discovering hidden aspects within, and you are eager to talk about them. Be sure to think before you act as your actions may not have the results that you expect. While your dreams of the future may seem wild, they do help you to plan in a practical manner. Gemini: Something about your work day, job, grand career plans percolates and bubbles to the surface. Things may have to remain in the planning stages for the time being due to circumstances beyond your control. Not to worry, you are laying the ground work for future endeavors. A friend encourages you to act boldly. Cancer: Your stay-at-home comfort zone isn’t working for you these days and you look to get up and get out. Do so before the long winter begins. You feel the need to do the things that bring you joy. And you get out there and do those things. Some folks encourage you while others want to keep you down. Do what your heart tells you. Leo: You work from your home base, organizing and innovating as you go along. Something very public and unexpected shifts your view for the future. Month end brings a real desire for change in your life and plans. Money that you were expecting, perhaps from insurance or tax refund, seems to disappear. Keep moving. Virgo: A crowded schedule keeps you on the go. You are torn between duty and fun. With careful planning, you can have both. Your ruler, Mercury, is now in direct motion and your inner thoughts and ideas can now be brought to fruition. Your efforts bring forth your creativity, and that creativity gets you through the tough stuff. Libra: The emphasis is upon you and your personal style. You hold your own against those who oppose you. While they crank up their opposition, you bounce back with facts, tact and persistence. Mid-month, New Moon time, the energy shifts and you examine your personal values. What’s important in the
scheme of things? Scorpio: The New Moon in Scorpio on the 15th signals a new day for you. It is like your personal new moon, so capture that energy. Sit and soak up the vibes on that day and wait for the message, the urge and the inspiration that comes along. Your ideas are deep and profound. Some require work to bring to life. You can do it! Sagittarius: You focus on your inner life as introspection becomes part of your daily routine. You are doing some deep thinking about money, values, what matters and what does not. There’s a big transformation going on that will take more than a day, week or month. Take these new ideas as they come to you. No worries. Capricorn: This has been a Capricorn year, some of it difficult but with positive and constructive results. Through your connections and friends, you see opportunity to head in a new direction. You have gained a lot of insight and wisdom over time; use it to plan your next steps. Get ready for some excitement to spark your days. Aquarius: While the world has been placed on isolation and restriction, you have put this time to good use. This year is a preparation year for you. You are cleaning the cobwebs of the mind out and getting ready for a fresh start. You are almost, but not quite, there yet. You can feel the winds of change. No fears, you’re ready. Pisces: Things clear up mentally and emotionally for you. As you begin to think clearly, you see how you have been limiting yourself. Awareness of the big, wide world brings you to a change in direction. Think and plan and be ready when the world opens up. In relationships, don’t limit yourself; keep that big old world in mind. Lunar Notes There may be more than one “October Surprise” this month as Retrograde Mars kicks it up once again with Pluto and Jupiter. Mercury goes Retrograde on the 13th, creating the usual difficulties with communication and commutes. Hold onto your hat between the Full Moon on the 1st through the Last Quarter on the 9th. The New Moon on the 16th kicks off another round of surprises. Pay attention on
and around the 19th. Could be a time of shockers. Aries: Don’t let misplaced anger get you into trouble. Why are you angry? Who are you angry at? Is it really anger or simply frustration because you can’t seem to get your point across? Time to regroup and rethink. Mercury goes retrograde on the 13th, a good energy under which to mull things over. Wait until early November to take action. Taurus: Things you have been mulling over in your heart and mind surface and require some intense conversations. You may not be able to keep things pleasant, but it is important for you to say what you want to say. You’re changing and some folks want the same old you. That is not happening. State your case and move on. Gemini: Your sociable friends come on a little strong during this period. Some may need to chill out. There is not much you can do about it, as it is their stuff and they have to deal with it. You can only listen to so much. Time to take care of your own stuff. This could be simply organizing and putting things in order. Clear the mind. Cancer: Serious encounters with your significant others can agitate and upset you. Clear things up with those controlling folks and step into a more positive mode. Social engagements and exciting interactions with others lighten your mood. Shift the conversation to the uplifting and unusual. Leo: Sudden and unexpected events change your direction. You will need to do a lot of thinking and discussing before you make any major moves. Be sure that what is promised, including money, is there before you decide anything. Retrograde Mercury this month cautions you to read the fine print before you sign. Virgo: Financial dealings are wound up early in the month. There may be a delay in funds, but they will be forthcoming and the issue will be resolved over the next month or so. You don’t have time to worry about it as you are kept busy with business and social activities. It is ok to turn down an invitation if your calendar is full. Take a breath. Libra: People, finance, taxes and insurance have you struggling to maintain your balance. Balance is your driving force, and you keep your sea legs and are able to work through any difficulties. The New Moon on the 23rd in your sign signals a new beginning. You may make some changes after that. It’s all good.
Scorpio: You are unusually talkative during this time. You juggle between being on the offense and being on the defense. Some folks delight in throwing a monkey wrench into your life. Don’t lash out in anger; think about it and use your head. There are powerful forces at work in your daily life. Concentrate on what you have control over. Sagittarius: You are in the soul-searching mode during this period. This is not a bad thing. You discover things about yourself that will help you make decisions for the future. Some interesting conversations with helpful people in your life provide you with some assistance as you make some important decisions. Capricorn: With the big three in your sign — Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto — it has been a stop and go year for you. You want to expand your horizons, but life and circumstance prevent you. Think, plan and contemplate on what you want, where you are and where you want to be. Some excitement enters your life — be prepared. Aquarius: A lot is going on beneath the surface with you. Unexpected mishaps in the home bring unexpected expenses. This prompts you into a grand clean up, throw out and reorganizing of your life. The budget, the closets and the conversations get examined and evaluated. Who and what holds worth for you? Pisces: Change is in the air as you make some powerful friendships and forge new alliances. There is someone pleasant and fun to be around on the horizon. Don’t let upsets in your routine throw you. Be ready to revise and adjust. Conversations move toward the philosophical and spiritual. You are tuned in to it all. Fall in the Stars: Mother Nature begins to doze, but society does not Autumn officially begins on September 22, 2020 at 9:30am EDT. Mars, having turned retrograde at the beginning of the month, sits at a harsh angle to the big three in Capricorn: Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. Mars, having rolled over these three while in direct motion during August, is prepared to roll back over, taking jabs at each one in turn. August brought us COVID spikes, explosions, social and political unrest and here in the Northeast the hottest summer on record and very dry conditions. The horoscope for the Equinox, the picture for that moment in time, promises more of the same.
Mars kicks off the action on September 28 when the harsh angle to Saturn becomes exact. Simultaneously, Saturn changes direction. When a planet stops and changes direction, the energy of that planet is concentrated. Mars fires up that energy. Mars and Saturn together in any aspect is not pretty. They are justifiably known as the Greater and Lesser Malefic. Things could get ugly. This period, leading up to the Full Moon on October 1, is a prelude of things to come. Mars brings out explosive energy, aggression and mayhem. Amidst all the confusion, deception is in the air. Wait until the smoke clears to try and get the clear picture. At the Last Quarter Moon on October 9, Mars again takes action, squaring off with Pluto. Pluto is the slowest of the slow-moving planets. Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008 (just in time for the financial meltdown) and won’t leave until 2024. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was during the American Revolution. The USA will have its first Pluto return in 2022. Political and sociological upheavals are a hallmark of Pluto. Clustered now with Saturn and Jupiter all year, birth, rebirth and transformation become the order of the day. Before the New Moon on October 16, Mercury goes retrograde. The New Moon in Libra speaks to those Libran things like harmony, balance and collaboration, but that rascal Mars moves in again to stir things up, squaring off with Jupiter. The Full Moon of October 31 may offer a clue to the election. At that time, the Moon in Taurus opposes Sun in Scorpio. Here the Moon is minutes away from a conjunction with Uranus. Moon rules the people, and Uranus rules the unexpected. Uranus is revolutionary. Uranus is unpredictable. Expect to be startled. Election Day is November 3, and on that day Mercury goes direct. The last time Mercury went from retrograde to direct on an election day was in 2000, the hanging chad election. Then Mercury went direct after the polls closed. This time Mercury goes direct at 12:49pm EST, well before the polls close. We don’t need a crystal ball to know that voter turnout at this election will be huge, the Moon (the people) in Mercury (the vote) ruled Gemini guarantees a busy and active day. Just before the New Moon of November 13, Mars turns direct. While Mars sits on the sidelines for the next month or so, don’t rule him out. This New Moon is a Scorpio New Moon. Scorpio energy is complex and seeks the truth beneath the surface. The Senate, whether lame duck or not, will be active. There will be lots of discussion, with budgets, debt and foreign policy on the table. November 30 brings a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini. Venus opposes Uranus in an angular (potent) position. Uranus the revolutionary and Venus the diplomat cross swords. Venus in Scorpio takes no crap, but she is not very diplomatic about it. The New Moon on December 14 is a Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius. Here in Providence, Mercury is at the top of the chart. Mercury rules news, cars, trucks, school kids and the daily commute. Mars gives Mercury a boost at this time, bringing energy to all things Mercurial. For us regular folks, this could mean a busy day, lots of conversation, a traffic jam or two, and some news that involves money.
Autumn comes to a close with a major shift in the energy as both Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius. They will join together at the Winter Solstice, completing a 20-year cycle and starting anew. While society reshuffles and realigns itself, the average person may feel like a cork floating on a rising and turbulent tide, out of control and subject to the whims of that tide. While we are all subject to societal caprice, there are things we can control. Focus on what you can do. Don’t beat your head against a stone wall trying to change something that is beyond your control. While Mars is stirring things up during this period, we can harness that energy and use it positively. Mars with Saturn can be a powerful aid bringing a controlled use of energy — a big project, a fitness plan, a rebuilding of the structures around you, whether physical, emotional or mental. This aspect is not conducive to money falling from the sky, but it is conducive to bringing reward after some concentrated effort. If you’re ready to work up a sweat, you can expect a positive outcome. Stay safe and be well. Wear your mask and wash your hands. Lunar Notes In August, Mars agitates and aggravates the big three in Capricorn: Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. When they were all together in March, we had the big shut down. Mars rules fevers along with other nasty things like war and strife. So, we can expect more violence, strikes and protests as well as a big spike in COVID cases. Jupiter rules law, Saturn rules order and Pluto rules the real big stuff like mass reorganization, disintegration and transformation. Focus on the transformation; don’t let fear (Saturn) rule you. Be hopeful and connect with spirit (Jupiter). Aries: Your ruler Mars, at home in Aries, fires you up, bringing a lot of energy your way. Use this energy in a positive way. You anger easily. Stay focused and don’t let what you cannot change aggravate you. Go with the flow. Love, romance and creative activities come your way. Burn off that energy with some healthy exercise. Taurus: In this topsy-turvy world, yours has been especially so. Some shocking events have you looking inward. Be aware that your actions may not have the results you expected. Your social life picks up this month and you are busy with some pleasant encounters. You think about changing your life’s direction. Gemini: Money issues present problems and you spend a lot of time gathering facts, having conversations and negotiating as you navigate through this morass. You’re quick and agile mentally, which works in your favor. A little monetary help appears. A friend gets a bit aggressive, and you have
to talk them down from their anger. Cancer: Relationships — the pleasant ones and the not so pleasant ones — take center stage. Some folks are really difficult to deal with at this time. Remember it is their fears that are motivating them. Don’t buy into that. Treat the aggressive and belligerent with a spoonful of honey. They’ll chill out. Leo: The Full Moon in Aquarius at the beginning of the month brings relationship issues to the fore. You may want to keep a particular relationship on the down low. Some unexpected events change your direction in life. Give it some thought. The New Moon on the 18th in your sign says it is time for a new beginning. Virgo: You really don’t mind all this lock down stuff, but at the same time you manage to engage in some fun, frivolous social engagements. You are not ruled by fear. In your usual efficient way, you gather the facts and then make your decision and act accordingly. You strike the right balance using caution without fear. Libra: These past few months have been tough on you, Libra, but they have given you time to reflect and analyze your wants and needs. August is a good time for you to recalibrate your life and shift your goals and perspective. Some pleasant folks help to guide you on your way. There is one not so pleasant who seems to prefer arguments. Scorpio: While your range of activities have contracted, you are still able to be constructive and accomplish a great deal. In August, you navigate delicately through your personal and professional life, creating balance. Restriction does not prevent you from thinking and dreaming big. When things get normal, you’ll be ready to move on. Sagittarius: Despite restrictions, you have had a busy time of it and will continue to do so. You are passionate about something or someone. Go with the flow and see where it takes you. Money matters and the material world play a big role these days. You need to get some of this stuff in order. Get some exercise, you’ll feel better. Capricorn: You’re in the midst of a long, slow process of change and transformation. Some of this is deep and subtle — so much so that you may not be consciously aware of it now. You will see it when you gain some distance. For the short term, expect an uptick in your social life, activity around the home and a bit of excitement.
Aquarius: A lot of behind-the-scenes, into-the-subconscious stuff has been going on with you. It is like you are cleaning out the dustbin of your mind and emotions, as well as your closets. You’re ready for a breakthrough. In the meantime, conversations, local activity and a bit of craziness on the home front keeps you busy. Pisces: Keeping on schedule has been a bit difficult for you because of sudden upsets, unexpected changes and events beyond your control. You will manage to take in some fun by engaging in activities you enjoy. Friends old and new get you out of the doldrums. There could be a light romance on the horizon. Exercise and meditation work well for you. Lunar Notes July begins with a Lunar Eclipse across the Cancer/Capricorn axis. This eclipse falls on the Natal Sun of the July 4, 1776 chart of the US. We can expect more upheaval on many fronts. Venus is now direct in Gemini. Matters involving love and money move forward. Saturn has moved back into Capricorn joining Jupiter and Pluto. They started off the year together and as the month unfolds, expect echoes from the first 6 months of the year. Mercury is retrograde until the Last Quarter Moon on the 12th. Try to save your decision-making until then. New Moon in late Cancer on the 20th brings a fresh perspective as Sun moves into optimistic Leo on the 22nd. July will be a bumpy road for many — two steps forward, one step back — but progress will be made. Aries: Decisions required that affect many facets of your life may not be put off, but if they can wait, try to wait until after the 12th when Mercury goes direct. Helpful friends — helpful women, especially — are on hand to listen to you and offer you a sounding board. Mars in your sign is a hot spur to action. Try not to be impulsive. Easier said than done. Taurus: You want to get going, get moving and take action, but circumstance prevents you. This does not prevent you from making concrete plans and having the many important conversations that will clarify your thoughts that will allow you to fulfill those plans when life’s wheel turns again. Expect the unexpected. Gemini: Venus in your sign brings the desire to party, participate and partake of all the opportunities to connect that have opened up in recent weeks. Money, common funds and common interests require conversation. Try to keep emotions out of it. Logic and facts will take you a long way. When a friend argues with you, send those words right back.
Cancer: The Lunar Eclipse impacts your relationships, all kinds and all levels. Authority figures rub you the wrong way. Friends exhibit odd and unusual behavior. And those significant others in your life present some complex dynamics you need to work through. Fortunately, your conversation skills are at their peak. Think and speak. Leo: You have been doing a lot of soul searching over the past few weeks. You’re thinking about where you want to go and what you have to do. There is a lot on your plate that you have to deal with, but you will get through it. During this period, the opportunity arises to socialize with friends and make connections. Take advantage of that energy. Virgo: Those relationships that are fun, lighthearted and playful become a bit more serious and complex. Some may reach a breaking or turning point. Remember to keep the conversation going as you dig deep into motivation. Something you were not aware of surfaces. This helps you to see your way forward. Libra: The Lunar Eclipse activates some basic issues in your life, like survival techniques. What you need for survival may not be the obvious like food and drink. You have more aesthetic needs. The peace and comfort of your surroundings are vital to you. You will not tolerate someone who is rude, abrupt or belligerent. Scorpio: Your daily routine, thought process and those you interact with get mixed up and tossed around. A relationship with a spiritual connection undergoes a sudden change and becomes more physical. Your plans for the future shift. Firm up your ideas after the 12th. Mercury direct clears things up for you. Sagittarius: The recent events in the wide world have you digging into what makes you tick and what it is you really want in life. You have discovered what is truly important to you. You are not through yet as this is a long, slow process. In the meantime, enjoy the pleasant people in your life. One in particular brings a breath of fresh air. Capricorn: The Lunar Eclipse sitting on you foretells change, particularly change in relationships. Some folks drift out of your life while new folks drift in. You don’t miss those who are gone, and you welcome the new as they bring ideas and conversation that stimulate and excite. Your creativity blossoms with the new and different. Aquarius: You become much more aware of how your emotional, spiritual self influences your physical self. So much has bubbled up from your sub-conscious that you are compelled to speak about it.
Someone you see on a daily basis proves to be a great sounding board. Romance and other fun things enter the picture. Pisces: The Lunar Eclipse brings about a change. You alter your goals, but not after having discussed, examined and reviewed all of your options. You begin to look at some parts of your life from a different perspective. You get creative with your options and see new possibilities before you. Lunar Notes June opens with a major event, a Lunar eclipse. This eclipse falls across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Both are intellectual signs with Gemini being more attuned to your “everyday” mind while Sagittarius occupies itself with those big philosophical questions. In the planetary picture at this eclipse, Mars plays an important role. Placed at a 90-degree angle between the Sun and Moon, Mars, the planet of action, is bound to stir things up. Expect some explosive activity around June 13th when Mars gets cozy with Neptune. First and foremost in our minds these days is the virus. With Mars ruling fevers and Neptune ruling virus, the results of careless actions on Memorial Day weekend will be evident. Mars is a bad boy and Neptune is a deceiver. Gas, oil, environment, fights, flames and volcanic activity are all on the table. Other dates to watch are the 18th when Mercury goes retrograde and the 25th when Venus goes direct. In between those dates we have the Summer Solstice, a Solar Eclipse and Neptune going retrograde. Be ready; change is in the air. Aries: It may take some time to kick start your social life while Venus is retrograde. You are thinking things over and may prefer to direct your attention to shoring up your foundation. That’s not to say you are not going to get out there and boogie, but you are going to pick and choose your social contacts. You favor your old friends now. Taurus: While the world has turned upside down for everyone, it is especially true for you. The weirdness continues. While you are taking a second look at what has always been important to you, you are having some productive and meaningful conversations with those close to you. You may change your mind about something important. Gemini: With the Lunar eclipse activating your 1st and 7th house, you and “the other person,” as well as Venus retrograde in Gemini, relationships are on your mind. Some crisis may occur this month putting certain relationships up for review. When Venus goes direct on the 25th, you will get a clearer picture of what the issues are.
Cancer: You have been doing a lot of digging into what is under the surface, with yourself and those around you. From deep within comes some startling insights. New and unusual friends spark up your life. The Solar eclipse on the 21st signals change. Change may not be overnight; the eclipse plants a seed. Nurture that seed. Leo: Some relationships have been challenging of late, prompting a review of what and where you want to go in your life. Any changes that come will come from within. These changes may not be apparent to others, but will be deep and profound for you. Before you manifest those changes, there needs to be some organizing done. Get to it! Virgo: The planetary energy in June rocks your world. You are not sure where people are coming from. Some folks get aggressive and you can’t figure out why. They don’t know either. Some conversation with trusted people helps to get to the bottom of things. You consider making changes to your plans for the future. Libra: All this down time and social distancing has changed your way of thinking. There may be a change in career or direction as well. This may come about from your own desires rather than an outside event. Either way, it more or less falls into your own plans, even if those plans were vague and unconscious. Someone from a different background than you are used to intrigues. Scorpio: The money situation is like a roller coaster. The cash influx you were expecting may not arrive until month’s end. Not to worry, it will arrive at the right time. You are thinking those big thoughts and planning what, when and where you want to go next in your life. Some folks continue to shock you. Sagittarius: The Lunar eclipse is right on you. A Full Moon event, with Venus retrograde in your 7th house — can you say relationship issues? And money issues as well. This may have to do with property, cash and other resources held in common. These issues may not get sorted out until mid-July. Until then, carry on. Capricorn: It’s a mixed bag with the folks around you these days. Some are very pleasant, with interesting and pleasant conversations. Others have you scratching your head. Someone who is usually laid back and passive comes on strong, but is not clear in their expressions. Let them let off steam and try to figure it all out later. Aquarius: Be on the lookout for the disappearing dollar. Try to catch it before it vanishes. This means pay close attention to those everyday expenditures. They do have a way of adding up. As the months unfolds, Venus goes direct and your love life and social life receives a boost. Solar eclipse on the 21st
brings a change in routine. Pisces: Mars in your sign brings a lot of energy and inspires you to get moving. Recent events have had you juggling the public and private you. Both are important, Mars now says, you need your space and it is time to take it. You surprise folks when you come on stronger than usual. Remember: Be assertive, not aggressive. Summer in the Stars: Defining moments on the horizon The year 2020 started with a bang with impeachment, the Aussie fires and whispers of a virus coming out of Wuhan. The year begins at the Winter Solstice. Just days after that Solstice there was a Solar Eclipse. Eclipses around the Solstice are usually game changers. The Summer Solstice marks the halfway point of the year and at this Solstice there is a Solar Eclipse hours after the event. Eclipses at the Solstice points foreshadow extraordinary events (9/11, a summer with an Eclipse at the Solstice). These days our mind is on the virus and while we may feel that we are stuck in place, the world is turning. Politics and political campaigns are anything but usual. Climate and environmental matters capture our attention. News and those who would control it figure prominently. With Mercury retrograde at the Solstice, be wary of gross exaggeration and distortion. Between the Solstice and the end of June, Neptune goes retrograde on the 23rd; this may signal a temporary abatement of the virus. Venus turns direct on the 25th. Venus rules love, money and your desires. What do you want? In Gemini, Venus wants a sparkling and interesting conversation. Flirtations are fun with Venus here, but we are easily bored and not likely to settle. At the end of the month, Jupiter connects with Pluto. This is a power house aspect that, due to retrograde motion, occurs three times; this is the second hit. The first was on April 4th, the next on November 12th. What was
going on around the 4th of April? Prepare for a revisit. July opens with a Lunar Eclipse on the 5th. At this Eclipse, Saturn has moved back into Capricorn, cozying up to Jupiter and Pluto. Mercury is still retrograde and Mars has slipped into Aries. Mars rules Aries, and here he is looking for a fight. Mercury goes direct on the 12th and facts emerge that give us a clearer picture of what is really going on. From the end of June through this period when Mercury goes direct, events unfold that can be upsetting and chaotic, but revealing. The New Moon on July 20th with the Sun and Moon in Cancer opposing Saturn and his buddies in Capricorn will kick off some serious actions and reactions. With Sun, Moon and Mercury in Cancer, we act and react on an emotional level. Mercury in Cancer says what it feels. The Sun soon moves into Leo, bringing some fire into the belly. Sun in Leo leads, bringing optimism and hope. That optimism is put to the test as August opens. At the Full Moon on the 3rd, Mars is already stirring things squaring off with Jupiter, then Pluto and at month end with Saturn. Mars was a major player throughout mid-March into April as he bounced off the Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto cluster. We may see the dreaded second wave during this time. Once again, the virus is not the only thing going on in this world. The trio in Capricorn rule the collective, the masses. Pluto and Saturn want to control. Jupiter wants to expand and promotes far-reaching and spiritual ideas. Social unrest and with Mars in the picture, something explosive and possibly violent. From the natural world, storms, quakes, volcanic action and something from the hand of man. Political bull as well as some economic news makes for an uneasy time. The New Moon in late Leo on the 18th shifts the energy a bit. Mars in Aries makes an easy aspect to the New Moon degree, fire to fire. By the First Quarter Moon on the 25th, the energy shifts with the Sun in practical, down-to-earth Virgo. Details come to light and we are able to examine them in a rational, logical manner. Emotions are left behind. The Full Moon on September 2nd falls across the Virgo/Pisces axis. Venus is in touchy-feely Cancer. Unlike Venus in Gemini, Venus here wants a hug. At this Full Moon, Venus opposes the big three in Capricorn, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. Her diplomatic endeavors are out-gunned. At this Full Moon, the enemy is out in the open. At least you know what you are dealing with. Mars is still stirring things up in the background, but Mercury in Virgo brings a lot of common sense to the table. The last New Moon of the summer season on September 17th has the Sun and Moon in a strong connection to the big three in Capricorn. This connection speaks to behind-the-scenes machinations. Who is in charge? Who is in control? Who controls the narrative? Mars is retrograde in Aries ready to backtrack, prepared to set off sparks as he connects again with the Capricorn trio.
Throughout the Summer and into the Fall, expect some defining moments. Violence, virus and the search for justice are major themes this year. Look for the truth; you may have to dig deep for it. Seek out those who have pure motives. Most of all, in times of restriction and trouble, find your joy. Lunar Notes Lunar Notes is about the Moon and the impact the phases of the Moon have on your daily life, your daily routine. These days there is no daily routine. We are in stasis. This pandemic is huge, global and life- changing. It takes more than the Moon’s daily movement to change your life. For this month’s forecast, we need to step back and take a look at the big picture. The Winter Solstice of 2019 provides a picture of what the year will bring. At that time, in addition to the Sun; Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto were in Capricorn. For more about this review, read my 2020 forecast here: motifri.com/foresight-is-2020-the- world-is-in-uproar/ At this past Winter Solstice, there was a Solar Eclipse in Capricorn as well. This ramped up the Capricorn energy even further. So, this is a Capricorn year. The buzz word for Capricorn and its ruler Saturn is “essential.” This column will be about how that Winter Solstice chart affects the individual signs and what is essential to them. Saturn/Capricorn is also about lessons to be learned. The energy during this year strips you and gets you down to the basics. There is a gift here somewhere. Are we aware enough to see it, sense it, find it? And remember, a Capricorn gift requires work, it will not fall from the sky and land in your lap like magic. Read your Rising Sign too! Aries: At first glance it may seem that this is all about the material world, your career, your job and your status in the community. But beneath all that there is an awakening to your life’s true direction, your destiny. While sitting at home you begin to realize what really matters to you — what is important and where do you want to go in the future. Taurus: Forced idleness forces change upon you that you may or may not be ready for. You are opening up to a wider world at a time when you can’t leave your home and hearth. New ideas, learning, opening to different and exotic cultures. How you relate to others and are able to push back against any infringement upon your space, it’s all in the works. Gemini: While conversation has always been important to you, these days those conversations are deep, probing and at times revealing. heading but you’re ready to go. There is a spiritual component in the middle of all this. Cancer: Relationships, significant others and those you consult (doctors, lawyers etc.) become more important during this time. Circumstance forces you to respond and express yourself in a way that reflects the real you. Don’t be mad at folks, thank them, because their behavior triggered the truth within you. You can’t always take care of everybody else. Leo: The Lion’s motto has always been the show must go on, no matter what the crisis. The slow down and stop everything will prove to be very helpful to you. Libra: Social distancing and social isolation is very hard for you. You turn your energies to propping up that foundation. Childhood memories surface and they serve you well. Scorpio: You are busy now despite the restrictions in place. This slowdown has invigorated you on an intellectual level. Your thought process is undergoing a transformation. Always ready to solve a mystery, you are delving into subjects that require serious thought and study. The month of May sparks your creativity. Things get mystical and spiritual during this time. Sagittarius: Freewheeling Sagittarius is never comfortable when restricted. Finances prove to be a double-edged sword; while a lot may be coming in, a lot is going out at the same time. Pay close attention to the details. It is unusual for you to get into the self-examination business, but that is exactly what you are doing. You are taking stock of your life’s situation and figuring out what truly matters to you and what doesn’t. Capricorn: A major life transformation is going on with you whether you realize it or not. It is slow, inexorable and you can’t avoid it. On one hand it may seem that all of your physical and emotional props are melting away; there is also an awakening going on. You are figuring out what is truly essential to you. What you can and can’t live without may surprise you.
Aquarius: You find yourself looking inward and taking cues, consciously or not, from your subconscious. You are literally and figuratively cleaning out the attic, getting rid of what doesn’t serve your higher good and getting rid of the unnecessary baggage you have been carrying around. It will surprise you when you discover how unnecessary all that baggage, garbage and old crap you have been dragging around really is. Pisces: Dreaming, visualization and affirmations help you to envision the future you want. This is the time for you to plan your future and reaffirm your goals. Think big! The energy is there to plant the seed. Be ready to work for those goals when the opportunity presents itself. Dream big, but plan on working toward your future.
