Provincial Graduation Assessments q Graduation Assessments have changed to align with our new curriculum q Focus is on the demonstration and application of Literacy & Numeracy q In order to graduate students will write: q Numeracy Assessment – grade 10 – started 2017/18 q Literacy Assessment – grade 10 – starting in 2019/20 q Literary Assessment – grade 12 – starting in 2020/21 q Literary Assessment – for French Immersion students q an additional assessment to the 3 above ( start date TBD)

How to Get 4 Credits MWEX 12A or 12B -- Work Experience (4 credits each) q Open to grades 10-12 q Can take it inside or outside the timetable q Summer placements available as well q Course work plus a 90 hour job placement q IF your job is in your focus area, all your hours can be used q May earn up to 8 credits within these courses.

ACE-IT: Carpentry Pogram Ø This program is for Grade 11-12 students interested in a career in carpentry and related trades. Ø Located at West Vancouver Secondary Ø Students receive training every second day, while attending their own secondary school for core academic subjects. Youth Work In Trades (formerly Secondary School Apprentice (SSA) q Paid on the job training under the sponsorship of a certified tradesman/journeyman q Day 1 work and Day 2 school q Can be in anything (if a family member is in a trade and you want to go into this field, you can work with them) q Complete up to 16 credits and 480 hours towards apprenticeship hours q Potential $1000 scholarship q Complete hours within 5 months of graduation

DL Centre Model The DL Centre is a computer lab, classroom or work space for students to meet with DL teachers for face to face interaction. Post-Secondary Admissions - DL Courses q The completion deadline for DL courses used for competitive admissions average varies from post-secondary institution to post-secondary institution q Example: DL course to be 100% complete by: q Jan 31st for SFU q Feb 1st for UBC q If the course is just required for completion, June is fine.

Note: Post secondary's are looking at course ‘breadth’ in the grade 11 & 12 years q Application Process: q an application form is necessary by Feb 21st (see grade counsellor) q subject to approval by administration q attach application to programming sheet q Criteria: excellent attendance, good academic progress, and heavy course load
Other Courses… q For special courses such as LC ,ELL, FN, Choices : q Specialty area teachers will make recommendations on the most appropriate choices to meet students’ needs q Enrollment in Windsor’s LC, & Choices programs will be determined by the School Based Resource Team (SBRT) q If already enrolled in these courses, speak with your teacher regarding placement next year
