SOUTH WALKERVILLE Just south of the Old Walkerville, this neighbourhood was first established and built after the first world war. A common trend in Canada, in order to honor those from the war, South Walkerville has named many streets after those who went to war. For example, Turner is named after Lt.- Gen. Sir Richard Ernest William Turner, a senior Canadian officer from Quebec City who received the Victoria Cross. There is a first world war memorial monument at the gates of Memorial Park that honors the names of 837 men from Windsor and Essex County who gave their lives. LITTLE RIVER ACRES Originally constructed from 1972 - 1980 and known as the Villages of Riverside. This neighbourhood offers single 2 storey detached homes. The 1,000 unit development adopted a zero lot line plan. The zero lot line allows for a greater density of development than that found in the standard single family dwelling subdivision. In this case less space is required for each house as the building is built right up to one of the side yard lot lines. The density nears that of a townhouse development, even though each of the homes are totally detached and owned separately. WINCIT Y REAL ESTATE TEAM I www.wincityre.com I +1 (519) 279-6550
