About The Show In What You Won’t Do For Love, award-winning environmentalists David Suzuki and Tara Cullis ask whether the love we have for each other can inspire us to take action for the planet. Originally conceived and workshopped as a live performance, the project transitioned to a filmed format as a pandemic adaptation in 2021. This production marks the world premiere of the live theatre show. Actors and real-life couple Miriam Fernandes and Sturla Alvsvaag join David and Tara, who have been a couple for 5 decades to share insights and stories garnered through a lifetime of environmental activism and the deep bond of their partnership. Please stay and explore these questions during an informal Q&A with David, Tara, and special guests after (most) performances. Lead Support of the National Artist Fund from With Assistance From Venue Partner Film clips used in What You Won’t Do For Love were Bullfrog powered with 100% green electricity. We shake up the status quo to make the world we want to see. We MAKE great work that takes chances, and tours all over the world. We SHARE everything we have, because more artists mean more stories. We PROVOKE change because we believe art should be for everyone. We push boundaries, build community, and find new ways. We represent Toronto, at home and on the world stage. Founded in 2007, we are growing rapidly, led by Ravi Jain, Kelly Read, and Miriam Fernandes. “A deeply personal, totally enchanting love story. David and Tara take us on a magical journey into the heart of commitment - to one another, to family, to community, to justice and to the planet. A testament to hope.” - Maude Barlow (Author and activist, founding member of the Council of Canadians, co-founder of the Blue Planet Project.) “Warm, wise and overflowing with generosity, this is a love story so epic it embraces all of creation. Yet another reminder of how blessed we are to be in the struggle with elders like David and Tara.” - Naomi Klein (author, journalist, social activist, and filmmaker) and Avi Lewis (filmmaker, climate activist, educator) “I was skeptical at first, wondering how in the world a film could be made resting solely on the spoken word amongst four players. But they pulled it off, often with pungent hilarity and always with scathing intellectual content. What a triumph!“ - Stephen Lewis (Co-founder and co-director of AIDS-Free World, Companion of the Order of Canada)
