Trademark @ESSNASports A mark of quality, safety, and honesty ESSNA’s trademark was launched in September 2017 to coincide with official launch of ESSNA’s consumer education campaign. The campaign is in response to sports nutrition’s evolution into a mainstream consumer product, requiring greater consumer education to help ensure understanding of how products should be used and, most importantly, ensure consumer safety. • The trademark is intended to be used on members’ products to allow them to publicly identify themselves as ESSNA members, emphasising their commitment to quality and consumer safety. • This is accompanied by an ongoing campaign of a variety of ESSNA-led media initiatives so that the public understands who is behind the trademark and the quality and safety that ESSNA and its members stand for.

ESSNA’s campaign to tackle non-compliance @ESSNASports ➢ Campaign launched in 2013 - aims to eradicate from the market products that do not comply with European rules. ➢ Over 470 cases of non-compliant sports nutrition products have been tackled to protect consumers and tackle unfair competition. ➢ Engagement with various stakeholders and enforcement authorities to develop frameworks, guidelines and reporting systems.
ESSNA’s efforts to tackle inadvertent doping @ESSNASports ➢ ESSNA had developed a framework for members on how to tackle inadvertent doping, included in the Code of Practice. ➢ ESSNA is a liaison organisation of the European Committee for Standardization’s (CEN) and is feeding into the work of the Technical Committee on Dietary supplements and sports food free of doping substances (CEN/TC 453). ➢ Engagement with the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport in the context of the review of the functioning of UK Anti- Doping (UKAD). ➢ Campaigns to tackle doping in sports.

Membership information @ESSNASports Membership of the Alliance is open to any business operating in the sports nutrition sector, on approval by ESSNA’s officers, on agreement to comply with ESSNA’s Code of Practice and on payment of an annual membership fee dependent on business size.
