From small beginnings B ayleys has come a long way since it began operations in 1973 with a staff of just three – the late Graham and Pam Bayley and their son John – operating out of the family residence in Pakuranga in Auckland. A career change in the mid 1960s, when Graham decided on a switch into real estate after more than 20 years of farming, proved to be a fortuitous one for the Bayley family. Father and son decided to establish their own agency focused on the rapidly growing South Auckland market. In those days, Graham and John were the company’s sole salespeople, and Pam Dinah Macky Chris Bayley Tony Bayley was financial controller, receptionist, and administration manager. Almost 40 years on, all of Graham and Pam’s children now work for the business. John Bayley is chairman of the board and offers support around the country for the franchises. David Bayley joined the company in the mid 1970s and is principal shareholder with John, along with overseeing the Auckland Mike Bayley Kirsty Stevenson Mark Macky commercial and industrial (C&I) business as executive director of BRE Auckland. BRG key personnel Greg Hornblow General manager, Bayleys Realty Group As the general manager of Bayleys Realty Group, Greg Hornblow is responsible for ensuring the various ‘pistons’ within the BRG engine are firing simultaneously and at full bore, as well as looking at new opportunities in developing the support network which will ultimately underpin the success of the front-line sales people. Bayleys Realty Group is essentially a service company - providing operational resources to a franchise network throughout New Zealand and Fiji. These services include recruitment, training, marketing, event management, research, public relations/communications and auctions. Before joining Bayleys, Greg was the general manager of sales for the New Zealand Herald and the Herald On Sunday. A self-confessed ‘sports-nut’, Greg is married with two daughters. Kathryn is a key point of contact for the coordination and support of best practice in administrative systems, processes and resources for Bayleys Realty Group. Kathryn joined Bayleys in 2005 after a number of years in executive support/administrator roles at Air New Zealand. Prior to her current role at Bayleys, Kathryn was personal assistant to Chris Bayley and David Poole who owned three south east Auckland Bayleys franchises with offices at Howick, Manukau and Counties involving residential, commercial/ industrial and retail, and rural/lifestyle real estate. Marketing Strategy With the largest in-house real estate marketing team in the country, Bayleys’ specialist marketing team provides assistance and direction in developing and implementing marketing initiatives for vendors, sale consultants and offices throughout New Zealand. Visual standards Bayleys has clear and documented standards for the visual use of the brand. To maintain a strong visual presence in the marketplace (signs, advertising, brochures, flyers, newsletters) it is crucial that the brand is consistently applied around the country and across business categories. The marketing team helps to implement the visual standards. On-going auditing of material around the country ensures that standards are upheld. Process To streamline the development of quality campaigns across different media, and to ensure consistency, Bayleys’ marketing personnel utilise a system called CampaignTRACK.
