Why Ready to Rent… Increase availability and access to rental education Standardization To attach specific benefits to meet housing needs
Why Ready to Rent… “Barrier” Busting To engage landlords and encourage them to give people a second chance
Who Ready to Rent Helps People with screening barriers People who don’t understand how to apply for housing People who are having trouble finding housing they can afford People who do not understand their responsibilities as renters
When I was 19, my mother put in her 30-day notice and said I couldn't move with her. So I kept the apartment by myself and got a couple of roommates, only to find that nobody did anything to help financially. We were evicted for non-payment of rent. That’s when I heard about Ready to Rent. I found out about resources I never knew were available. I learned to be dedicated and determined to help myself and correct my past mistakes.
What Does Ready to Rent Do?
Ready to Rent… Teaches a basic overview of rights and responsibilities as renters Teaches how to prepare finances & find affordable housing

Benefits to Landlords… Renters with more knowledge Landlords appreciate that graduates know their responsibilities, learn to create a budget, and will know how to avoid problems. R2R Board of Advisors HRDC is working with a Board of Advisors to guide development of curriculum to improve the approval process for landlords
As a landlord, knowing that renters are being empowered to clean up their credit, learn renter responsibilities and establish new goals is a breath of fresh air. Ready to Rent not only provides residents with a second chance to be successful tenants, but it also broadens the market for rental property owners lowering their potential vacancy loss.
It has been a joy to watch our renters renew their belief in themselves. Thank you for developing a workshop like this, so we can better assist our tenants by helping to make us aware as well.
