location venue requirements _i • located in a European Union member or candidate member country • provided with a minimum size of 3 hectares, preferably 4-5 hectares, with a rectangular configuration and east-west orientation • available for at least 44 continuous days in the past, the event has been held June / July or September / October • accessible 24 / 7, allowing student Teams and staff to work, around-the-clock 24 / 7, if necessary • free of or having limited restrictions on construction noise • clear of overhead power or communication lines of any kind sde23 >> webinar 16_10_2020 30
location venue requirements _ii • enables the securing structures (houses, tents, etc.) to the ground with stakes, weights or other means • accessible to construction vehicles, including semi- and flat-bed trucks of up to 4,8 m. wide, 20 m. long, 4,8 m tall, and 60 tons • equipped with waiting spaces for trucks and special transports close to the site to organise vehicles flow • equipped with parking lots spaces for Organisation, VIP and public, complementary or alternative public transport lines • accessible to a hardscape or paved surface for ten to fifteen cranes rated up to 160 tons, with sufficient working space for them • please refer to the Call for Cities for the complete list sde23 >> webinar 16_10_2020 31

h_budget The Host City is expected to have an available estimated budget of € 10M - 12M Euro (depending on the breadth and scope of the SDE23 edition) to host the Solar Decathlon Europe Competition event. Proposals based on smaller budgets will be considered, provided that these can realistically meet the selection criteria. Selection criteria will be based on the feasibility of the proposed budget, the way in which the budget meets the scheduled activities, the proposed project development, and the fundraising contributions to the overall budget. sde23 >> webinar 16_10_2020 34
costs The costs of hosting, production and implementation the Solar Decathlon Europe will be borne by the Prime Applicant. Cost sharing among consortia with support from sponsors, governments and other entities must be made transparent to the EEF. In the case of a consortium application, a cost sharing agreement will be included by Prime Applicant on behalf of consortium partners. sde23 >> webinar 16_10_2020 35

compliance Letters of Intent and Full Applications must meet compliance criteria listed in the Call for Cities document, or they will be considered noncompliant. Please send compliant Letters of Intent, and complete Full Applications, through the indicated email address. eligibility Applicants should be from the Schengen area, the European Union, or the European Economic Area. These includes countries that are part of the European Union, candidate countries to the EU, and countries closely associated with the European Union. This includes Switzerland, United Kingdom and the countries mentioned on the following website: https://europa.eu/european-union/about-eu/countries_en Applicants can be individuals, legal entities, governments and consortia of any number of these.
