Which Bin Do I Put It In? Using your green topped waste bin Your waste bin is for food waste, garden waste and other general rubbish items. 4 Food Waste, Garden Waste 4 General Rubbish items including nappies NO Hazardous Items To assist waste and recycling operators in servicing your bin collection: • Bins should be placed within 1.5m of the road kerb by 6am on collection day, with handles facing towards the property, without the bin blocking footpaths or driveways. • Place your bins about half a metre apart to allow clear access for the side loading service vehicle’s grab arm. 1.5m ½m • Place your bin clear of obstacles such as parked cars, trees etc. to allow clear access to the service vehicles.
• Do not overfill your bins as the trucks’ hydraulics cannot lift bins weighing more than 70kg. • Your bin lid must close, so the contents do not spill when it is lifted, or the lid does not blow open causing street litter. • Only waste placed inside the bin will be collected. • Return bins to your property as soon as possible. • Do not place hot ash, liquids, oils, paint, solvents or hazardous materials into your bins. • Freeze smelly food until bin day to avoid odour and wrap food waste in newspaper or compostable liners Using your yellow topped recycling bin Your recycling bin is for recyclables such as plastics, paper, cardboard, aluminium, steel and glass. 4 Recyclables NO Aerosol Cans NO Hazardous Items NO Nappies NO Plastic Lids/Tops NO Recycling in Bags For more information about bin services, contact 1300 293 955, or visit kwinana.wa.gov.au Which Bin Do I Put It In?
