          107-years-old

 Thelma McKenzie, our eldest
 police legatee, aged 107,
 passed away on the 8th
 November.
 Thelma’s husband, former Superintendent
 Kenneth John McKenzie (registered number
8457), served in Victoria Police from 1929
until his retirement in 1967. Thelma was a
remarkable woman who will be missed by
her family, friends and other police legatees
who she befriended over many years.

                                                       Northern Classic Cruisers
 September saw yet another
 mighty effort by the Northern
 Classic Cruisers and high
 performance manufacturers,
 Harrop, raise funds in support
 of Victoria Police Legacy.
                                                       excel yet again!
A big thanks to Nez Demaj and the N.C.C.
volunteers, the team at Harrop, car, bike,
custom and hot rod owners and the sponsors.
It was a great day, and VPL was displayed to
 perfection thanks to volunteer co-ordinator
Paul McBride and VPL volunteers Barbara
Thomas (police legatee) and Bruce Mitchell.
 But the Northern Classic Cruisers
didn’t stop there. In October, this time in
conjunction with the Epping RSL, the NCC
team hosted another dynamic car show.
Thanks again to Nez Demaj as well as
Narelle Hart and the staff at the Epping
RSL, plus all the volunteers and sponsors.
And special thanks again to volunteer
 co-ordinator Paul McBride, VPL volunteers
Ros French and Loreen Thompson (police
legatees) and Evan Whitelaw, who all
 assisted on the day.
A significant amount was raised once again
 for VPL.

VPAL Christmas Party
Twenty-five young police
legatees (aged 16 to 23)
enjoyed a great day in
magnificent sunshine at the
Melbourne Cable Park at
Bangholme, for the VPAL
Christmas party.
This adventure park offers some of the most
amazing and exciting outdoor attractions.
Our young police legatees enjoyed cable
skiing and the inflatable ninja course which
they bounced, slid and splashed on before
sliding onto the trampoline and through
the hamster wheels.
There was a lot of laughter and firm
friendships made. Merry Christmas to all
our young police legatees.
