Construction Pathway RTO: North East Vocational College (NEVC) Certificate I in Construction- Doorways 2 Construction (D2C) C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : This course provides students an opportunity to explore career options within the Building and Construction industry. Students will develop skills, knowledge and experience within the industry and develop attributes that will help them establish the fundamentals for a successful career start. Practical learning activities will focus on several trades and simulate the sequence of residential construction. Guided theoretical learning will be based around the competencies that make up the Certificate in Construction. Food and Hospitality Pathway RTO: Career Employment Group (CEG) Certificate ll in Kitchen Operations C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : This course is designed for students interested developing an under- standing in the nature, range and structure of the hospitality Industry, who enjoy practical work and like being involved in a diverse social environment. B e n e f i t s t o s t u d e n t s : Increase student’s awareness of employment opportunities Develop work ready skills Develop skills that could lead to apprenticeships or employment Pre-Course Experiences: Students must be enrolled in Year 11 or 12 and have a keen Pre-requisites: interest in food. Previous completion of work experience within the Hospitality Industry is desirable. Structured Work Placement : 70 hours work placement throughout the year will be required for students accessing TGSS funding which CEG will assist you in completing. There are no entry requirements for full paying students. Special Requirements: Dress Code/Extra Clothing Required/Equipment: Students will be supplied with a (compulsory) complete trade school chef uniform. This will be at a cost of $125 per student Career Pathways: This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, cafés, and coffee shops. It offers a good understanding if you are wanting to seek an apprenticeship in commercial cookery. A career in cookery could take you all over the world with opportunities from café’s to cruise liners. Hospitality Pathway RTO: Career Employment Group (CEG) Certificate III in Hospitality C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities. B e n e f i t s t o s t u d e n t s : This qualification will provide a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming. Pre-Course Experiences: There are no specific academic entry requirements for this qualification. Pre-requisites: Applicants for the Certificate III in Hospitality are expected to: Have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy and numeracy competencies to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). See Australian Core Skills Framework. The above requirements could be demonstrated by applicants in a variety of ways such as Having completed secondary school to year 11 Verified references from an employer indicating that the applicant has demonstrated the above requirements in their workplace Via an interview process that assesses the applicant’s skills. Structured Work Placement : Work placement is required for the core unit SITHIND004, Worked effectively in hospitality service as a minimum of 36 service periods (shifts) need to be logged for performance evidence. CEG will assist our students to gain work placements for this task. Health Pathway RTO: TAFE SA Certificate III in Individual Support C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : This course is the standard entry qualification for students who want to work in residential aged care. The course is nationally recognised and can be used as a pathway to nursing, an introduction to allied health or an accreditation towards further study in the field of health. Students will learn how to provide physical and emotional support to enhance independence and wellbeing. This course does involve bending, stretching, kneeling, squatting and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Successful applicants must demonstrate respect, genuine compassion and empathy towards others. Benefits to students: Increase student awareness of employment opportunities. Develop work ready skills. Undertake a first aid course and ob- tain a police clearance. Insight towards pursuing a career in a health related industry such as Aged Care. Pre-Course Experiences: No pre-requisites required. Pre-requisites: Primarily suitable for year 11 and 12 however some year 10 students may be suitable candidates. Fitness will be helpful. Health Pathway RTO: TAFE SA Certificate III in Sports and Recreation C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : This course focuses on the skills and knowledge to work in the sport and recreation industry in areas such as providing customer service, organis- ing groups and activities, delivering sport and recreation sessions and assisting in administrative duties. The course has been designed to include a mixture of practical and theory sessions. B e n e f i t s t o s t u d e n t s : Gain the confidence and knowledge to work independently with some level of autonomy in a controlled environment such as fitness, leisure, aquatic and community centres. Learn how to asses and manage risk and apply risk assessment and hazard control processes. Business Pathways RTO: TAFE SA Certificate III Micro Business Operations Course Description: This nationally accredited certificate is designed to students the skills and knowledge required to measure business viability. It covers a range of operational practices necessary to research a small business environment. This course is designed for people intending to open their own small business. Participants will be required to develop a business idea from concept to implementation readiness. Participants will use their own business/business idea, investigating, developing and planning for its eventual launch. Information Technology Pathways RTO: TAFE SA Certificate III in IT and Digital Media with Cybersecurity electives Course Description: This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technical functions and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced ICT user. All courses are taught by highly qualified industrial professionals supported by hands - on practical activities and links to vendor certifications. It can also be a starting point for a career in IT and Cyber Security. Electronics Pathways RTO: PEER Certificate II in Electronics & Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Dual Cert) C o u r s e D e s c r i p t i o n : These qualifications covers competencies for foundation skills and knowledge as well as safety in any electro technology discipline. Students will develop skills to select, assemble, set up and maintain electronic Devices. The course comprises of classroom based study and workshop practices. The dual certification also provides a potential entry point for students wishing to become an Electrician, Data Technician or Refrigeration and Air-conditioning mechanic. Students who wish to enter the fields of security systems, computer systems may also benefit from the completion of this course.
