The diversification of the University has enhanced student mobility
and shaped our transdisciplinary research in ways we could not have
imagined at the time of our foundation in 1975. Through it all, we have
retained our founding vision of seeking new ways for a better future.
We have grown from a provincial feeder college of 300 students to
an international university of more than 35,000 students. Now one
of the best modern universities in the world, UOW is an influential
global player, with the resources and potential to transform many

UOW’s research impact was showcased in the first ever Times
Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019, where we
were ranked equal 13th in the world and second in Australia. These Professor Paul Wellings CBE
