Different animals There are lots of different animals. There are big animals and small animals. Animals can be all sorts of colours. They can be fast, but they can also be very slow. Let’s compare two animals. The elephant and the lion. An elephant can be 4 metres tall and the lion is only 2,5 metres tall when he stands on his hind legs. A lion weighs 200 kilograms (kg) and an elephant can weigh 7000 kg! So the elephant is much bigger, but also slower. The top speed of an elephant is 40 kilometres per hour (km/h) and a lion can run 80 km/h. Another big difference between these two animals is how long they live.
