modern preparatory school; for schools, for teachers and for their pupils.

                                   Session B (Seminar Session 1):
                                   Legal update: equality and Brexit!
Simon Henthorn, Head of Education and Liz Timmins, Senior Associate, Doyle Clayton
                                   Solicitors

This session will focus on the topical employment law issues affecting
independent schools. It will cover equality issues impacting both on staff and
pupils, such as sexual harassment and disability discrimination. There will also be
an immigration law update on Brexit and how this will affect your staff and pupils.

                                   Inspections (Seminar Session 2):

The seminar will focus mainly on Quality Inspections. It will highlight ways
of evidencing outcomes in achievement and personal development and will
discuss the use of data during the inspection with regards to attainment and
progress. It will also focus on the ‘protected characteristics’ in relation to
                                   equality.

                                   Session C:
Fitting your oxygen mask: staff and pupil wellbeing in school
Chris Jeffery, Headmaster, Bootham Senior School

This seminar will explore the importance of developing a wellbeing culture in
our schools and especially why addressing staff wellbeing (that often seems
increasingly fragile) is so crucial to its success. We will explore changes in
staff workload, the challenge of ‘Millennials’ in the work place, the 5 (or is it
8?) pillars of good mental health, and some examples of packages available
to schools to help. All in an hour!
                                                                                                               Page 8

Seminar Sessions
                         Session D:
Inspiring the global citizens and transformational
                         leaders of tomorrow’s world
Justin Blake, Head of Social Responsibility and SMSC, Windlesham House

This session will focus on a life-transforming education and inspiring
initiatives that develop the very best in young people. We will explore a
values-driven, purpose-led school culture that develops active citizens,
future leaders and champions of change. We can enable every generation
to experience life-changing learning that prepares young people to thrive
and live their best lives in service of the common good. Together we can
                         influence tomorrow’s world.

                         Session E:
Creating safer organisations: practical implications of
research about abuse in professional settings
                         Marcus Erooga, Independent Safeguarding Consultant

Incorporating a brief overview of current events, particularly the Savile
aftermath, this presentation uses Marcus’ research with people convicted
of sexual offences against children in the context of employment or
volunteering. Incorporating messages from the literature, it outlines key
findings about their behaviour and organisational issues related to their
                         recruitment, employment and work setting.
Messages from these offenders on how risk can be minimised in workplace
settings will be addressed, as will key measures that organisations and co-
                         workers can take.

                         Session F:
Working in partnership: from small steps to grand
                         conclusions
Tom Arbuthnott, Director of Outreach and Partnership, Eton College

Partnership with the state sector does not have to be about sponsoring an
academy. There are lots of smaller scale models out there, from music to
sport, from chess to debating, from science to languages. This session will
outline some ‘starter’ partnership projects, and explore how prep schools can
develop from small beginnings into investing in partnership as an integral
                         part of what they do.

                                                                                                   Page 9
