Winner Achievements Michael Guinan has been involved with athletics for over fifty years, starting off as a Cross Country athlete and later finding his way into administration at Club, County, Munster and National level. His local Club, Killenaule A.C. which later became St. Catherine’s A.C. saw him take on his first role as Secretary and he continued right up the ranks from County Juvenile & Senior Chairman to “Dedication to Athletics” Award the Munster Council and onto the National BLE Council Michael Guinan where he attended 10 World Cross Country Tipp Mid-West Radio Championships with the Irish teams. One of his proudest moments is the winning of the National Half Marathon by his own Club, St. Catherine’s A.C., in a year which saw the Club host the race. He continues to be a staunch supporter of athletics in County Tipperary and beyond especially on his weekly Saturday morning “Sports Programme” on Tipp Mid- West Radio which has been running since the inception of the radio station decades ago. On his show, he regularly features news about the best athletes that Tipperary has to offer and keeps the County and beyond up to date with all their achievements. We thank Michael for his dedication to athletics and wish him continued health and happiness in his quest to promote our beautiful sport.
Winner Achievements Kathleen & Patsy Dorney Thurles Crokes A.C. . Hall of Fame Award Kathleen and Patsy Dorney, Thurles Crokes A.C. have given a lifetime of dedication and devotion to athletics, not just at Club and County level but also at Munster and National level. They have held a number of roles at different levels over the years in administration and coaching capacities. Always on call to help at a moment’s notice, they are integral members of Thurles Crokes A.C and our County Board. They have helped to develop Thurles Crokes A.C. grounds on the Nenagh Road from a green field into a top-class Cross-Country facility (complete with Patsy’s Hill) and Club House and are always looking for new ways to improve the facility. The County is indebted to them for all the events they host on a yearly basis including our County Tipperary Primary Schools Cross Country Championships each September where they cater for over 3,500 children, teachers, parents, coaches and spectators, our County XC Relays and Masters XC Championships, Community Games County XC Championships and all our County Board Meetings where we are lucky enough to regularly be treated to their hospitality and Kathleen’s famous apple tart & cream and scones. They are our County treasures, we would be lost without them and we wish them many more happy, healthy and successful years to come.
