Established in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) has been
listed as one of the co-constructed higher educations by Ministry of Education (MOE), State
Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) and Tianjin Municipal Government. It
is the only former State Education Commission (Present MOE) approved International University
of Traditional Chinese Medicine and also the hosting institution of Educational Instruction
Committee, World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), “Educational Aid
Center” and “China-ASEAN Educational Training Center” of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)
and Ministry of Education, TCM International Cooperation Center of SATCM, and WFCMS
“Belt & Road” Training Center for Chinese Medicine Education Teachers. Adhering the motto of
“Strengthening moral education and pursuing academic studies, inheriting and innovating”,
TUTCM has developed into a comprehensive university specializing in TCM education and
covers extensive areas of study, namely as Medicine, Science, Arts, Management, Engineering,
Education and etc. In 2017, the university was selected into China “Double First-class” university
and Chinese Materia Medica was selected into “Double First-rate” programs.
The University has distinguished teaching staff and sufficient resources for students’ internship.
Currently it has two National Key Programs of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina and TCM
Internal Medicine. There are three affiliated and four non-direct affiliated hospitals. Among them,
the First Teaching Hospital is a National TCM Clinical Research Center, the National
Acupuncture Clinical Research Center, the National Acupuncture Clinical Center and the
National Provincial Demonstration TCM Hospital; the Second Teaching Hospital is the treatment
center for TCM rare diseases and leading in gynecology and encephalopathy diseases; Baokang
Hospital and other teaching hospitals have unique treatment features in TCM Rehabilitation,
TCM Orthopedics, TCM Community Health, Clinical Integrative Medicine and etc.
The University has extensive international exchanges and cooperation. It aims to cultivate
international applied talents in clinic with solid theoretical foundation and excellent clinical skills
which make it enjoy a high reputation world wide. It has formed TCM internationalization talents
training system where the bachelor education is the main part. The system also covers master and
doctoral education and short and long term certificate studies. Every year，there are over 2,000
international students from more than 60 countries or regions coming to study at TUTCM.
The new campus of TUTCM is located by Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai District, Tianjin. It covers an
area of 145 hectares and the building area is 600,000 square meters. It is the biggest TCM botanic
garden, the most advanced TCM science and technology park and an influential center for TCM
international education in china, characterized by an in-campus lake view, TCM vegetation and
culture.

A. Non-Chinese Citizen and Healthy
B. IELTS, TOFEL or any other English proficiency certificate is required. Native English
applicants whose official Language is English can be exempted.
C. For Master’s Applicants (One of the following):
i. Master’s Applicants for Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina: Bachelor in Medicine or
related subjects
ii. Master’s Applicants for Chinese Materia Medica (Chinese Pharmacy): Bachelor in
Chinese Materia Medica, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Preparation,
Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology or other related majors
D. For Doctoral Applicants (One of the following):
i. Doctoral Applicants for Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina: Master in Medicine or
related subjects
ii. Doctoral Applicants for Chinese Materia Medica: Master in Chinese Materia Medica,
Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Preparation, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology or other
related majors.
E. No more than 35 years old for master’s applicants and 40 for doctoral applicants.

Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school
to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages
other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English
translations.
d. NOTARIZED Transcript of Highest Degree/Diploma in Chinese or English
Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized
Chinese or English translations.
e. Study Plan in China or research proposal, not less than 1000 words
