…THINGS ARE STILL A LITTLE DIFFERENT… Let’s keep this simple… • Enable Ability will be organising activities that are compliant with protecting our young people against the virus and helping to ‘flatten the curve’. Safety always comes first so please bear with us if things get cancelled or changed. • To help us ‘flatten the curve’ and protect yourself and others, we kindly ask if anyone in the family has either a high temperature, a new/continuous cough or a loss of, or change to your sense of smell or taste – get tested and do not leave home if tested positive for at least ten days, this includes everyone in your household. Your positive test must be registered with the NHS Track & Trace contact centre, they will give you further and more detailed information. • We will provide hand sanitisers throughout any activity, particularly before and after. A temperature check will also be administered prior to any session, we ask parents/carers to stay until the check is complete. • Indoor activities will be limited and numbers capped to a maximum of ten or less for every activity. Face coverings may be required for indoor activities only. • When meeting in person, we will be enforcing the rule of keeping at least a metre away from others not in your household. Your young person will be asked to be taken home immediately if they are unable to understand and follow this rule. • Your young person will be encouraged not to touch their faces and follow basic hygiene rules throughout any activity. • Any sharing of equipment will be closely monitored, ensuring the equipment is sanitised before, between and after sharing. • Home visits will be offered to any family on request, we appreciate these changes can be a little difficult to understand and equally, we need to gain the trust we once had before the first lockdown. Therefore, an informal chat in your garden or in a local park can be easily organised in the next few months. This will be attended by the young person, a parent/carer, James (Project Leader) assisted by a female worker if needed. • Regular testing and vaccinations for everyone is our ongoing goal for all staff and young people who attend our activities. • And finally, we will be using a new system to communicate. All communication will be through text message instead, a link to a website address will be provided with a password. If you have a smartphone, you will be able to click on the link and any information you need will be provided via the website page. If you or a family member do not own a smartphone, you will easily be able to copy the web address into any tablet, laptop or computer using mobile data or wifi internet connection. The website will include videos which will show your young person what to expect when they turn up to any future activity, as well as information on what to bring, times and meeting points. A hard copy of the events schedule will still be posted to everyone unless requested not to.

WHO WE ARE?: Hampshire Youth Project is run by Enable Ability and funded by various grant funders for young people aged 13-25 years living in South East Hampshire; areas include Emsworth, Havant, Hayling Island, Waterlooville, Fareham, Gosport, Eastleigh, Petersfield and surrounding districts. We only accept young people living in Portsmouth if they attend a Hampshire school or college. The project aims to provide young people with physical and/or mild-moderate learning disability, or additional need, with the opportunity to engage in a variety of planned recreational, social and sporting activities as part of a group setting. The under 18 year olds will be ‘buddied’ with the older young people of the group, as well as the older members having opportunities in volunteering and work experience, all of the above being supported by our fully-trained Support Workers. The charity enables young people to interact and socialise with other peers on a weekly basis. Activities are designed to improve pivotal life skills for all young people; including building their confidence & self-esteem, independence, communications and multitasking skills, to name a few. Hampshire Youth Project staff are trained to support young people and accommodate their needs during each activity, regardless of their level of ability; physical or otherwise. Activities for the project include social clubs, going out for meals, going to the cinema, ten pin bowling, art and crafts activities, baking/cooking, sports and general socialising, as well as the supported volunteering and work experience. We also arrange a variety of day trips outside of the local area for any museums, theatres or theme parks; made easy by being transported in our charity minibus. Once a referral to our project has been made – this can be by a parent, carer, the young person themselves or a professional – we arrange a home visit to meet the family and have a chat about our Project and what we can offer. All activities for the project take place on weekends, usually on Saturdays with the occasional Sunday and weekday evening. There is no obligation to attend all activities; parents and carers are free to register their young person for as many activities as they would like. GARDENING PROJECT AT WINSCOMBE CARE HOME Saturday 1st May: Join us for our second session at Winscombe Care Home, who some of you may be familiar with when the residents were joining us for our online virtual bingo sessions during lockdown. Your hard work will be displayed every day to brighten up the lives of residents who live at the care home, a splash of colour and a smile can go a long way. By the end of this session, you should come away feeling emotionally recharged to carry on with your day. Later in the year, we will be painting the empty flower beds pictured! For those who have already started contributing hours to their John Muir Family Award, this activity will count towards that. Therefore, we would encourage your family to attend this session too. Anyone can still take part in this award with no obligation to complete the award. Please bring a drink and sun protection Wheelchair accessible
ROCK ART PAINTING WORKSHOP Saturday 8th May: Time to sit, take a moment and commit. An exciting, motivational and encouraging workshop, that feels true to you. Begin your journey by kickstarting your imagination. Have the opportunity to choose from a range of carefully selected rocks or bring your own rocks. Whether it be words, quotes, pictures, dreams or goals – you are the one in control. We provide the rocks, paints and some inspiration and support if needed. After the workshop, find a place for your painted rocks to go, somewhere where you will see them every day to help positive thinking and inspire you wherever you go. Please bring a drink Wheelchair accessible

Challenge yourself as you navigate across the perilous crossings (there’s 41 of them to master). Love zips? You’ve booked onto the right activity – you will be launching yourself over the meadow, going through a tree tunnel before safely landing back down to earth.
