Royal Hippodrome Theatre Welcome W elcome to another bumper season at the Royal Hippodrome. We enter exciting times with the unveiling of our new façade which makes for a much more welcoming entrance to our wonderful Victorian Gem. This is now the start of the 6th year of running this wonderful community venture and we have some great shows in store for you. For lovers of all things musical we have “Life could be a Dream”, “Forever Dusty”, “The Story of Bart” and “The West End Musicals in Concert”. For those who like their tribute style shows we have shows like “The Bohemians”, “Buddy Holly”, “Totally Tina” and “Walk Like a Man”. For those who like “names, names, names darling” – how do Jonathan Pie, Jimmy Osmond, Bobby Davro, Anita Harris, Liza Streisland, Nicholas Parsons, David Baddiel, Billy Pearce, Chrissy Rock and Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy from Boyzone and Westlife do for starters? This is of course on top of the great family entertainment for which the theatre is becoming well known – Easter panto “Alice in Wonderland” for example or “Guess How Much I love You” or David Walliams’ The Midnight Gang? We truly do have something for everyone. So do come and visit Eastbourne’s most popular theatre (according to Tripadvisor) and say ‘hello’. Thank You O ur front-of-house staff are volunteers, and without them this venue would not operate. To them we owe our eternal gratitude. These organisations have also helped to keep the RHT alive: Walk with Jack & Nancy around the dark theatre, seeing areas not normally seen by the public! February The Royal Hippodrome Community Theatre Company and The Rattonian Youth Group’s Production of In February half term, The Royal Hippodrome Community Theatre Company in association with The Rattonian Youth Group are BACK, bringing you the Disney classic ‘Cinderella’. This timeless, ‘rags to riches’ fairytale is an adaptation of the treasured animated film that will charm its way into your heart and remind audiences that dreams really can come true. Poor Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters and denied a chance to go to the ball. But with a little help from her Mice Friends and Fairy Godmother, Cinderella’s dreams do eventually come true. She goes to the ball, falls in love with the Prince and lives happily ever after. Featuring songs from the movie such as ‘Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo’, ‘So This is Love’, ‘The Work Song (Cinderelly, Cinderelly)’ and many. With the chance to meet and have photos taken with Cinderella, the Prince and other characters after the performance, this will be a truly magical experience for the whole family. February THE STORY OF BART Lionel Bart from the East End of London was a songwriting genius having a career penning huge global chart hits, musicals, film scores, and one of the biggest musicals of all time ‘OLIVER’! He was earning every minute the same as the average working mans weekly wage in the 1960’s, but things went wrong, very wrong and by 1972 he was tragically declared bankrupt. ‘The Story Of Bart’ tells the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of Britain’s greatest songwriter. April Liza Pulman, the acclaimed singer & comedienne and one third of the satirical and much loved comedy trio Fascinating Aida, returns with her show Liza Sings Streisand. April Boyzlife brings together members of two of the biggest boy bands in history, Boyzone and Westlife, to perform a whole host of their biggest chart hits. Brian McFadden enjoyed 12 UK and Ireland number ones as a member of Westlife, including a record breaking seven top spots in a row. The band also boast four number 1 albums and over 30million in total record sales. Since Westlife, Brian has enjoyed international solo success, including a UK number 1 with ‘Real to Me’. With Boyzone, Keith Duffy has enjoyed similar success, including six UK number one singles and 16 out of 17 of their first single releases making the top 5. With five number one albums also to their credit, Boyzone achieved worldwide sales of over 25million.
